A scene in the film was shot at the opening night of the 1984 Sydney Film Festival. The opening night film was Alfred Hitchcock's "Vertigo" with star James Stewart in attendance (he was on a worldwide publicity tour promoting Universal's "The Essential Hitchcock" film reissues, with the return of "Rear Window", "Vertigo", "Rope", "The Man Who Knew Too Much" and "The Trouble With Harry" to cinemas after decades in the vaults). James Stewart said on stage that night that the State Theatre was one of the greatest he'd ever been to in his life -sadly neither this statement or the speech he made that night is included in this short subject, "Palace Of Dreams".
