Tom Courtenay's first screen collaboration with Ronald Harwood. They would work together in many projects over the next 50 years, including One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich (1970) through to Quartet (2012), and including their most famous and award-garlanded West End and Broadway play and film, The Dresser (1983).
