Actor Jessie Cave says she is disappointed over co-star Miriam Margoyles' disparaging comments regarding the adult fans of the Harry Potter movies.
The Harry Potter film franchise continues to endure 21 years after The Sorcerer's Stone was released. With a dedicated fan base mostly rooted in J.K. Rowling's book series, it's safe to say the franchise owes much of its success to its adult fan base. This is why many were miffed when actor Miriam Margoyles (who played Professor Pomona Sprout in the film series) said adult fans of Harry Potter need to grow up and get over it. Actor Jessie Cave, who played Lavender Brown in three Harry Potter films, recently expressed what many fans are likely thinking. The Hollywood Reporter was present at Dream It Con when Cave commented on Margoyles' disparaging statement.

Harry Potter alumni like Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint could bring new life to Dcu detective roles. Ralph Fiennes embodying Darkseid would bring a regal air of cruelty, perfect for the ultimate alien tyrant in the DC universe. Emma Watson's emotive depth as Barbara Gordon could bring legitimacy to Batgirl's journey from caped crusader to Oracle's support role.
The Dcu still has a lot of critical characters to fill out for its roster, and looking to the iconic Harry Potter films may reveal some good casting choices. With the latest film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows - Part 2 being 13 years old now, many former wizards and witches are free to join a new blockbuster franchise. Snape's love for Lily Potter was confirmed in the final book, debunking rumors of his allegiance to Voldemort. R.A.B. was revealed to be Sirius Black's brother, Regulus, proving sharp fans' theory correct. Neville Longbottom was also the Chosen One, a theory supported by the prophecy in the series.
Since the release of the first Harry Potter book, there have been wild fan theories that Wizarding World enthusiasts pondered over, and while most of these proved to be false, some came true. As the books and movies were being released, readers and viewers wildly theorized about everything from Harry’s scar to the true intentions of Professor Severus Snape, trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together before the massively anticipated next entry in the series was released. With a well-developed lore and insanely impressive worldbuilding, of course, fans regularly came up with theories about what it all meant.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and Harry Potter star Peter Mullan criticized both franchises when recalling his time on both of them.
Scottish actor Peter Mullan's acting credits include several Academy Award-winning films, but also fan-favorite franchises. Mullan had a short role in 2010's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, where he played ruthless Death Eater Yaxley, and appeared in three episodes of Prime Video's The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power as King Durin III. Scottish actor Peter Mullan, whose credits include The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Westworld, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, passed through Series Mania in Lille this week, where he participated in what turned out to be one of the festival’s most raucous masterclass sessions.
Mullan appeared alongside French journalist Charlotte Blum, who chaired the session and quizzed the Scotsman on his decades-long career and his philosophy of acting.
“The thing with acting like any form of play is that it’s fun when you are playing,” Mullan said. “A footballer can relive the moment of scoring the goal, but it’s not as much fun as scoring the goal. Shannon Triplett cut her teeth as part of the visual effects and producing teams for blockbusters like Fast Five, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 and Part 2, and Godzilla (2014). And though she is now making her directorial debut with Desert Road, which premiered at this year's SXSW Festival, she didn't necessarily intend to sit in the director's chair. An accomplished writer and a storyteller at heart, Triplett said in our interview, "[Directing] really came out of an extension of a desire to tell stories." In her writing, she gravitated towards "bigger sci-fi things," which she lamented could often get stuck in development hell. This is why Desert Road was the perfect fit as a sci-fi indie production.

Each Voldemort actor in the Harry Potter franchise portrayed different stages of the dark wizard's life and transformations. The evolution of Voldemort's character required different actors to show various versions from childhood to full power. With the Harry Potter universe getting a reboot, more performers will join the list of Voldemort actors in the future.
Every Lord Voldemort actor throughout the Harry Potter movies and beyond has had a certain purpose in bringing the evil wizard to life. Initially spoken of in hushed tones only, Harry Potter introduces the legend of Voldemort in its very first book, depicting a dark, fearsome wizard who terrorized the magic world, only to be defeated while attempting to kill a young Harry Potter. That led to various versions of Voldemort appearing throughout the franchise, meaning seven actors played He Who Must Not Be Named in various movies.

The New Sherlock Holmes In Sherlock & Daughter Series (Picture Credit: Facebook)
Many people worldwide are waiting for an update on Sherlock Season 5. The British mystery crime series stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman in the lead roles. The last season was premiered in 2017. Many have come to acceptance that there won’t be a fifth season. Well, chances are that’s true. But The CW has announced a spin-off series titled Sherlock & Daughter, which might excite the fans of the fictional detective.
As reported by Deadline, the series will have Sherlock, a young girl named Amelia, as his daughter and even Moriarty. So it’s not going to be a melodramatic father-daughter series. The premise will be about a young American girl, Amelia, arriving in London after her mother’s murder. She learns that her father is a famous detective. Snape's true intentions were revealed in the final Harry Potter installment, showing that he was never truly evil but was instead protecting Harry from Voldemort. Clues throughout the series hint at Snape's true nature, such as his reaction to Harry's scar pain and his attempts to counteract Quirrell's jinx during a Quidditch match. Snape's actions, such as shielding Harry and his friends from harm and hesitating when killing Dumbledore, further demonstrate that he was not a villain but had a deeper plan to earn Voldemort's trust.
Since the first Harry Potter movie, Severus Snape was presented as a villainous figure, but once the final installment was released, viewers learned his intentions were never evil — leading to the endless debate over was Snape good or bad. He has made his lack of involvement with the new season very clear on social media, where he even went so far as to refer to one element of the new episodes as “stupid”. In the Wizarding World, Horcruxes are nearly indestructible objects within which a powerful wizard uses dark magic to hide a piece of their soul. This is done with the intention of becoming immortal. Before the events of Harry Potter, Voldemort intentionally split his soul into seven pieces and hid them in items meaningful to him. Because the Dark Lord had placed parts of his soul in 7 Horcruxes, it was nearly impossible for anyone to defeat him. Creating Horcruxes was widely considered to be an act of pure evil, as it required the creator to take at least one life per Horcrux.

HBO's Harry Potter remake can feature more stunning duels, thanks to the TV format and advancements in CGI technology. The lack of visually interesting battles in the original movies can be rectified in the remake. The Harry Potter remake can take inspiration from the duels in the video game Hogwarts Legacy to create impressive magical combat.
Aside from Dumbledore's battle with Lord Voldemort, the duels in the Harry Potter movies were lackluster, but HBO's remake can change that. Of course, it's not easy to bring the magic of the wizarding world to the screen, and Warner Bros' movies, especially the early ones, did the best they could. Making wand fights look believable is expensive and time-consuming, and this is a luxury the Harry Potter movies didn't always have.

The movies changed Hermione's memory charm spell to "Obliviate," which couldn't be undone, resulting in her parents forgetting her forever. In the books, Hermione used a False Memory charm to make her parents believe they were named Wendell and Monica Wilkins, and J.K. Rowling confirmed she restored their memories after the war. It's unclear how Hermione would have reversed the spell, but it likely depended on Voldemort's defeat and added pressure to find the Horcruxes.

Short-lived happy endings challenge viewers' expectations and reveal deeper themes and messages in films like 500 Days of Summer and Mad Max: Fury Road. Endings that seem happy initially may have dark undertones, such as those seen in Duel and The Truman Show. The resolutions in movies like Barbie and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 are short-lived, as new challenges and evils await the characters in their respective worlds.
For as long as film criticism has existed, audiences and critics alike have had a fascination for movie happy endings that definitely didn't last long. Also known as secretly dark happy endings, these are the finales that favor the protagonist - but only for a short amount of time during or after the third act. While these movies ended happily in their own ways, deeper analysis reveals that their final moments of triumph, justice, or peace are ultimately short-lived.

The nude Harry and Hermione scene in Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows caused controversy and exemplified the franchise's struggle to appeal to both adult and young audiences. The scene was part of Ron Weasley's vision induced by Voldemort's Horcrux, but the sexual connotations still ruffled feathers. The controversy over the scene was mostly based on speculation and judgments before the film was released, and the controversy was ultimately unwarranted.

In March 2017, Disney’s live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast opened to a monstrous $357 million globally. It marked the seventh-largest domestic debut ever and the top start for a PG title, eventually finding its place on the list of the highest-grossing films of all time with lifetime box office earnings of $1.27 billion.
Leading up to the release, Disney said the movie represented a massive step forward in visual effects — playing up the CG rendering of Dan Stevens’ Beast — through the use of VFX technology called Mova Contour Reality Capture. “When you see Beast onscreen, there is something so human about him,” said Emma Watson, who played Belle, at a press conference in Paris for the film, noting that the patented tech “really captures the subtlety of Dan’s facial expression.” She stressed, “I don’t think the world has seen anything like it before.”

Some major celebrities, like Daniel Radcliffe and Kristen Stewart, choose to also work in smaller indie films despite their success in blockbusters. These actors prioritize their craft and are willing to accept smaller payouts for the opportunity to take on challenging and complex roles. Their versatility and ability to excel in both indie and mainstream films demonstrate their dedication to their craft and their willingness to explore different genres and characters.
The worlds of independent cinema and blockbuster Hollywood productions are often very separate, however, some actors tread the line between the two with incredible ease. Indie films tend to have much smaller budgets as they don't have the same level of backing as large production companies and major studios in Hollywood. As such, the actors and everyone involved in indie productions tend to have a much smaller payout for their work.

The Harry Potter movies had to tone down certain scenes from the books to avoid being too disturbing for younger audiences. Some of the darker and more intense scenes from the books surprisingly made it into the movies, despite being watered down. The Goblet of Fire is a turning point in the series, the following installments all focusing on the war against Voldemort.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1 sees the deaths of many characters as the evil magical forces of the Wizarding World begin their war against Harry Potter and his allies. Who dies in Deathly Hallows Part 1? A mix of minor characters and major supporting players meet their ends. In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1, Voldemort and his Death Eaters are now openly attacking muggles and wizards. With the death of Dumbledore in The Half-Blood Prince, the largest threat to Voldemort has been dealt with, and he is free to wage his war, fearless of anyone trying to stop him. This is the first film that doesn’t have Hogwarts as a setting and the loneliness and despair without it make for a dour tone.

The hardworking, immensely talented, and woefully underappreciated stunt community is mourning one of their own. Taraja Ramsess, a veteran stuntman of several superhero movies such as "Black Panther," "Avengers: Infinity War," and "Black Adam" (among many other action-heavy productions) tragically passed away this past Halloween in a car accident that also claimed the lives of two daughters, Sundari and Fujibo, and his son Kisasi. Ramsess was only 41 years of age. The news was reported by local news outlet Fox-Atlanta and subsequently confirmed by Ramsess' mother Akili, who memorialized her late son and grandchildren in two heartbreaking Instagram posts.
Ramsess' career in film had stretched back to his time as a set dresser on 2009's "Halloween II," working on a number of high-profile productions such as "Fast Five," "The Walking Dead," and "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" before truly coming into his own as a prolific stunt performer. Although his contributions...

Daniel Radcliffe’s lead stuntman in the Harry Potter films, David Holmes, became paralyzed after breaking his neck in a tragic accident on the set of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1.
Now, Holmes and Radcliffe have partnered up to tell the former gymnast’s coming-of-age story leading up to and following the accident. The documentary features candid personal footage shot over the last decade; a behind-the-scenes look at Holmes’ stunt work; scenes of his current life; and intimate interviews with Holmes, his friends and family, the Harry Potter star and some of the film’s crew.
“Being a stuntman is the best job in the world,” Holmes says early in the trailer of the doc. “You’re constantly being tested, just risking it all. I used to fly. Nothing’s like it, man.”
Holmes, Radcliffe, who executive produces the doc, and the rest of the Harry Potter cast grew up together.

Loving "Harry Potter" is immensely complicated these days, between its creator's inexcusable transphobia and the underlying problems that have always been there since the Wizarding World began. Loving many of the people who made the "Harry Potter" films, on the other hand, is as easy as pie, especially the cast members who have taken it upon themselves to publicly speak out against the bigotry propagated by the author who gave us The Boy Who Lived. But what about all those unsung artists who toiled away in the background to help make the "Harry Potter" films a reality? Thanks to an upcoming documentary, one of those folks is finally getting some deserved time in the spotlight.
You might not know the name David Holmes, but you've almost certainly seen his work. Holmes served as Daniel Racliffe's stunt double throughout the first six "Harry Potter" movies, stepping in to take a beating...

Studiocanal has revealed the brand spanking new red band trailer for ‘Wicked Little Letters’, the razor-sharp British comedy from director Thea Sharrock.
Based on a true story, a 1920s English seaside town bears witness to a farcical and occasionally sinister scandal in this riotous mystery comedy. Based on a stranger-than-fiction true story, the feature follows two neighbours: deeply conservative local Edith Swan (Olivia Colman) and rowdy Irish migrant Rose Gooding (Jessie Buckley). When Edith and her fellow residents begin to receive wicked letters full of unintentionally hilarious profanities, foul-mouthed Rose is charged with the crime. The anonymous letters prompt a national uproar, and a trial ensues. However, as the town’s women – led by Police Officer Gladys Moss (Anjana Vasan) – begin to investigate the crime themselves, they suspect something is amiss, and Rose may not be the culprit after all.

HBO has readied a documentary about David Holmes, the stuntman who stood in for Daniel Radcliffe in almost all of the Harry Potter films before he was paralyzed on the set of Deathly Hallows Part 1. The film, entitled David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived, premieres on HBO and Max November 15th. Update: Watch the trailer below.
Holmes, described as a “prodigious teenage gymnast from Essex, England,” worked as Radcliffe’s stunt double from 2001’s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone until 2010’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, when he broke his neck while performing a stunt and became paralyzed from the chest down. Directed by Dan Hartley, the documentary tells his story with behind-the-scenes material from Holmes’ stunt career, personal footage from the past decade, and interviews with friends, family, and crew members. Radcliffe is among those featured in the film and also serves as an executive producer.

Daniel Radcliffe is partnering up with David Holmes, his longtime stunt double in the Harry Potter films, to create a documentary based on his life.
Holmes was brought onto the film franchise ahead of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and, over the course of 10 years, he and Radcliffe formed an “inextricable bond.” However, in the penultimate film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, Holmes had a tragic accident on set that left him paralyzed after a spinal injury.
“As Daniel and his closest stunt colleagues rally to support David and his family in their moment of need, it is David’s extraordinary spirit of resilience that becomes their greatest source of strength and inspiration,” Warner Bros. Discovery said in a statement about the documentary, which is directed by Dan Hartley (Lad: A Yorkshire Story).

Kevin Costner's Horizon: An American Saga is taking a risk with its release strategy. The two parts of Horizon will be released just two months apart by Warner Bros., a more extreme version of the Matrix sequels' six-month gap. While Warner Bros. has had success with back-to-back releases for franchise movies, the success of Horizon is uncertain, as it is not part of an established IP, making it a bigger risk for the studio.
Kevin Costner's epic two-part movie Horizon: An American Saga has a risky release strategy, one that recalls the plan Warner Bros. made with the first two Matrix sequels. Costner is known for his penchant for Western epics, having previously directed and starred in the three-hour Best Picture winner Dances with Wolves and more recently leading the cast of the TV series Yellowstone. He returns to directing with the Western epic Horizon: An American Saga, in which he will also star.

Director Francis Lawrence regrets splitting The Hunger Games: Mockingjay into two movies. Lawrence acknowledged that fans felt exploited and frustrated by the year-long wait for the finale. While the decision allowed them to adapt more of the story from the book, Lawrence now understands that making people wait a year came across as disingenuous.
The director of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay offered his candid reaction to the most common complaint about the movie franchise's finale. The Hunger Games franchise, which is adapted from the young adult novel trilogy by Suzanne Collins, began with 2012's smash hit The Hunger Games. The second book, Catching Fire, was adapted to the screen in 2013. However, the final novel, Mockingjay, was split into 2014's The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 and 2015's The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2, which led to fan complaints about stretching the resolution of the finale over an entire year.

Before the “Harry Potter” films, there were J.K. Rowling’s books. The first book, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” was published in 1997. Nearly 26 years later, eleven films, one reunion special and a Universal experience dedicated to the magical Wizarding World have grown out of Rowling’s literary staple in childhood fiction.

The Harry Potter movies were released in a straightforward order, with a new film almost every year, mirroring the release of the books. The movies become darker as the series progresses, with changes in director creating a clear difference in tone. While the chronological order of the movies aligns with the release order, there is debate over whether they take place in the same years as the books or if they occur later in time.

Neville Longbottom's character arc in the Harry Potter series was the most dramatic, ultimately proving his bravery and importance in defeating Voldemort. Neville faced bullying and ridicule from his own family for not demonstrating magical ability, which greatly impacted his self-confidence. Neville's connection to Trelawney's prophecy, his final moments with Harry before his sacrifice, and his journey to overcome his parents' weighty legacy make his book story far better.
Neville Longbottom's story was dotted with a few sad moments in the Harry Potter movies, but that was nothing compared to the books. Kind but entirely lacking in confidence, Neville had the most dramatic arc of any of the Wizarding World's characters. By the end of the series, he had proved that the Sorting Hat hadn't made a mistake in placing him in Gryffindor, and Harry's victory would have been impossible without him. The Harry Potter films tell the story of a young boy who overcomes tragedy to become a great wizard. Based on the books by J.K. Rowling (who has said some things that are absolutely awful), the stories spellbound millions of people who waited for their owl message telling them they got into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and bought wands by the gazillions. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, some incredible stunt performers were doing amazing work to make us buy that the main actors were actually pulling off these feats of bravery. There was flying on brooms, fight scenes, explosions, and so much more over the course of eight films. Stuntman David Holmes was there for every one of them, doubling star Daniel Radcliffe and taking on the dangerous things the main actor couldn't do.
Unfortunately, during a rehearsal scene for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," Holmes was injured.

Alan Rickman was the only actor to know Harry Potter spoilers from the beginning, and he kept them a secret until the end of the franchise. Rickman's dedication to understanding Snape made him one of the greatest characters in the Harry Potter franchise. The new actor who plays Snape will have big shoes to fill, as replicating Rickman's incredible acting will be difficult and almost impossible.
Alan Rickman was the only actor to get Harry Potter spoilers as early as the first of the eight-movie saga. This was something talked about in the Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, with Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson joining other stars to share memories of the franchise. They sometimes surprised each other with personal memories and big reveals from their years making the movies. Tragically, there was no chance to hear from Alan Rickman, as he had died since the end of the franchise.

Harry's survival in the Harry Potter series was due to the connection established between him and Voldemort through the use of Harry's blood. This was revealed early in the Goblet of Fire book. Dumbledore's knowing look of triumph when Harry mentioned his blood being used by Voldemort hinted at Harry's eventual victory and survival. The pivotal moment of Dumbledore's hint was omitted from the Goblet of Fire movie, leaving out important foreshadowing for the Harry Potter ending.
The Harry Potter ending saw Harry survive Voldemort's Killing Curse in the Forbidden Forest, and the reason for his survival was given away early in the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire book. Harry never fully understood his resiliency until his long talk with Dumbledore in the King's Cross limbo, where the headmaster's spirit explained that when Voldemort used Harry's blood to resurrect his body, he created a connection between them that death itself could not sever.

James Potter is not the saintly figure he was initially portrayed to be, showing problematic behavior and bullying towards Snape and others. He justified his bullying as a result of his attraction to Lily, using it as an excuse for his actions. James became reckless, relied too heavily on a small group of friends, and disregarded the consequences of his actions, losing the moral high ground to Snape.
A significant point to be noted in the Harry Potter series is the fact that the titular character’s father, James Potter, is far from the good guy he was initially made out to be. For being billed as a children's series, Harry Potter has a surprising amount of characters of dubious morality. While Professor Snape and Albus Dumbledore are usually the characters brought up when viewers discuss this matter, James Potter is another prime example of the fact that people aren't wholly good or wholly bad,...

Dumbledore may have given Neville Gryffindor points in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone to acknowledge Neville's bravery and redeem himself for his own past failures. The awarding of Gryffindor points not only made Neville a hero but also helped him gain the approval of his peers, encouraging him to continue standing up for himself. The moment of Dumbledore giving Gryffindor points has become a meme, portraying Dumbledore's willingness to do anything to ensure Gryffindor always wins the House Cup, even if it seems illogical.
While Dumbledore’s reasons for giving Neville Longbottom Gryffindor points in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone seem straightforward, the Dumbledore points may have had a deeper meaning.
