Visually cool but only slightly amusing
In a library an old man and his grandson sit reading. However a mobile phone annoys the granddad and he takes unusual steps to stop it seemingly making the offender vanish with a hand trick. However the boy sees the trick and starts to do it himself.
One of the films screened as part of the 2006 "Animator in Residence" collection of short films, this looked cool with clear, stylish animation but didn't do a great deal for me beyond the three minutes it was on for. The plot is amusing and does the job but for me the cool animation was more interesting as it seemed to have an element of Japanese style within a Western context. It is hard to describe but it is very clean and well done and I liked this aspect of it.
Overall though, not the best of the AIR shorts this year but is cool and stylish visually which covers for the perhaps understandable lack of substance.
