- A landmark series set in an ethnically diverse urban neighborhood where every day is a sunny one. It features songs, skits, animation and, of course, Muppets to teach preschoolers basic educational and social concepts.
- As Sesame Street begins its third season, we are given a tour of the street and introduced to some new cast members: Tom, who works in the store with Mr. Hooper, Rafael, David, Molly the mail lady, Maria, and Luis. Later on, Oscar the Grouch puts holes in the bottom of his trash can to stick his feet through, so he can take a walk to the store to pick up some rotten apples. But most amazing of all, Big Bird meets Mr. Snuffleupagus for the first time and takes an instant liking to him. Unfortunately, Snuffy leaves before Big Bird can introduce him to all his friends. They don't see him and think Big Bird must have imagined the whole thing.
Meanwhile, Grover is working as a waiter at Charlie's Restaurant, and his frequent customer, Mr. Johnson, wants a bowl of alphabet soup- and won't eat it unless it has all twenty-six letters. In a western saloon, some cowboys make some comparisons to see if they have found the Great Cookie Thief (guess who the thief is). Susan and Kermit play a game of "One of These Things", and Bob sings another version of "The People in Your Neighborhood" with two teachers and a newsdealer. Ernie has trouble falling asleep, so he counts sheep, but that doesn't work, so he tries counting fire engines and balloons, to the unfortunate consequence of Bert's nocturnal bliss. Finally, Kermit lectures the viewers about long and short with ladders- and Grover just HAS to help.
