Corny at times but still a very nice entry in the franchise

Re-visiting the older episodes and the recent direct to video releases since being blown away by My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Dancing in the Clouds is another entry in the franchise that is still effective. It is not my definition of perfect, the dialogue is corny and while likable and engaging on the whole the characters' personalities are more interesting and unique in the older episodes and Friendship is Magic. Conversely, the animation is full of vibrant colour, and the music is catchy and whimsical. The story doesn't hold many surprises as such but is sweet and well-meaning in tone with a good moral, while the voice acting is solid and not too cutesy. Overall, very nice on the whole. 8/10 Bethany Cox

Warning: Spoilers
I mentioned in my Friends Are Never Far Away review that I have a major soft spot for Star Catcher. I've always enjoyed her caring nature and sweet voice. To add to the appeal of this particular volume, I have always danced and enjoyed doing so and it's basically about how Twinkle Twirl is arranging a ball but has no ideas for it so an uninspired Twinkle Twirl and a nervous Sky Wishes calls upon Star Catcher to help Sky Wishes build her confidence so she can help Twinkle Twirl. While I especially like Star Catcher, I also have a soft spot for Sky Wishes and Twinkle Twirl here. Sky Wishes is very sweet too and has a nice sweet voice. I also like Twinkle Twirl's voice and it's so funny to see how excited she gets. Another thing that I really like is when Sky Wishes first meets Star Catcher and at the very end when Star Catcher shows up outside the window of the dance hall. The waterfall that Sky Wishes sees while looking for Star Catcher is very lovely as well. A beautifully done story of friendship and dance.
