Acabo de ver la película, que se estrenó ayer en España. La he visto en V.O.S. La estaba esperando ardientemente desde que leí el libro, hace más de un año. Pues bien, respecto al libro, la película no le llega a la suela de los zapatos. Tiene de bueno lo que se adapta al libro, y de malo todo lo demás. Esa voz en off que aparece al principio y te cuenta las 100 primeras páginas del libro en cuatro frases estropea completamente la historia, desde el punto de vista del libro, y del espectador. Comento esto porque hace solo 2 días oi una entrevista con Viggo Mortensen que decía que era una adaptación fidedigna del libro, edulcorando el final. Pues bien, no solo edulcora el final sino varias cosas más que no voy a detallar para no estropearle la película a nadie. Pero justamente lo que omite o cambia el director es lo que le da a la historia su verdadero sentido dramático. Por supuesto que no importa nada el porqué del desastre en el mundo, lo que importa son las reacciones de los seres humanos ante esa catástrofe, y eso no está bien plasmado en la película. El tema de "llevar el fuego" y del amor padre-hijo están simplemente esbozados. En fin, que aunque me encanta Viggo, es una película que pasará como muchas, sin pena ni gloria, teniendo en las manos un guión prodigioso como es el propio libro. Y además hay algo que me mosquea. Hace unos meses que vi en una foto, supuestamente de la peli (de donde si no) con una de las escenas más fuertes del libro, y resulta que llega el final de la peli y la escena no aparece ¿Que pasa, se rodó, resultó muy fuerte y la quitaron? Esto me pasa por haber leído el libro primero, pero si no lo hubiera leído me habría gustado aun menos, como a mi marido que la vio conmigo.
Mi consejo es que leáis el libro de McCarthy. A pesar del tema tan humanamente terrible, está tan bien escrito que no lo puedes dejar de leer. Despues os entrarán ganas de ver la peli y os daréis cuenta de lo que digo. El libro en sí mismo es un guión de cine, ¿porqué no seguirlo al pie de la letra?
