A seemingly random change of locks at CJOH-TV inspired director Geoffrey Darby and producer Roger Price to make fun of it with this episode.
Even though not graphically shown, scenes involving Mr. Dime using money as toilet paper generated some heat from employees of CJOH-TV and parents who saw the show. Cast member Elizabeth Mitchell reported that she got some grief from her parents due to this episode, even though she wasn't even in it.
The last scene shows director Geoffery Darby getting a surprise pie-in-the-face during taping of Whatever Turns You On. Ruth Buzzi, star of that show, stands nearby covered in pie and slime from a scene for the pilot that was cut before the show aired.
