- The episode comes as close as is possible in a 1980's kids show to depicting the murder of Martha and Thomas Wayne (the event that started Bruce Wayne on the path to becoming Batman). We see young Bruce and his parents being confronted by a robber, who holds a gun just out of frame. The shots are drowned out by a lightning strike, then the shot cuts to Bruce crying between the fallen bodies of his parents. Then the scene cuts to him and Alfred standing by a pair of graves.
