Decent unsold pilot with a bit too familiar plot

The only reason why I saw LITTLE AMY was because there is an early appearence of Jack Nicholson when he used to look like me, and while I expected more of him, the movie overall was nice.

Amy (Debbie Megowan) is a 7 year old child that wants at all costs that her 16 year old neighbour becomes the new star of the school's football team with hilarious results (such as taking a fox's tail from her mother's coat for pinning it on the boy's car).

The acting was decent and the plot very familiar to that of DENNIS THE MENACE (I have never seen the original show but I am one of the very few that loves the 1993 movie based on it). Worth watching just for having some laughs and when you don't have other movies to watch.

Wholesome family affair!

I watched to see Jack Nicholson. I knew his appearance would be brief but I really enjoyed it especially the next door neighbor Arthur, who was hilarious. Left me wanting more.

About as charming as abdominal cramps!

"Little Amy" is apparently a pilot for a TV series that fortunately was never made! I say this because the show was pretty dreadful--with bad acting, an unappealing star and a creepy script.

Amy is a child who appears to be about 7 years-old. While her family thinks it's cute, she's in love with a boy who appears to be about 16. Apparently, folks at the time didn't think this was creepy--but her and her dad talking about this just made me feel a bit ill at ease!! This episode consists of of Amy trying her best to make this boy the new star of the school's football team.

In practice, this show appears to be a reinvention of "Dennis the Menace" but with a little girl. A big difference, however, is that Amy has none of the charm of Jay North from "Dennis". While I hope Debbie Megowan has had a great life, she also was terrible in the show and had all the appeal of a stomach virus! And, given the lousy script, you can't help but cringe at every moment. Terrible but fortunately the TV executives in charge realized this and didn't pick up this show!

The Punky Brewster/Curly Sue of the 60's, with a bit of Rhoda from "The Bad Seed" thrown in.

Warning: Spoilers
A seven year old pest with a crush on a 16 year old high school athlete. Yep, that's a great pilot for a sitcom that never came to be... thankfully. We already had Beaver and Dennis, so Amy was too little, too late, and you can hear young boys screeching "eew!" In attempting to watch this had it been promoted as the little girl version of those hit shows. Margaret O'Brien of "Meet Me in St. Louis" she's not. Debbie Megowan isn't super annoying and overly cute, but the premise of the pilot is poorly executed. Familiar faces in the adult roles abound, most notably a young Jack Nicholson in a bit (obviously anxious to get through this so he can run over to American International for a few campy horror films) and Jack Albertson, and of course the "uh oh!" lady on the laugh track. Little Amy's sidekick manages to drain any laughs in her scenes away.
