- Graham Sloan: What are you trying to tell me, baby? What are you saying?
- Christie: I want... I want to stay.
- Graham Sloan: But it's getting cold.
- Christie: But I need more sun.
- Graham Sloan: There's no more sun.
- Jack: You know, it's just kinda hard 'cause you can't really make it in this town unless you're really willing to do some awful things.
- Susan Sloan: [dryly, to a topless Christie] Nice shirt.
- Christie: [with sarcasm, as she goes on her way] Ditto.
- Susan Sloan: Does she always dress like that? Movies, restaurants and stuff?
- Graham Sloan: You a little jealous?
- Susan Sloan: Graham!
- [grabs away his sunglasses]
- Graham Sloan: Hey, mellow out!
- Nina Metro: She's really sick. She needs to see a doctor, but she's so stubborn we can't talk her into it.
- Graham Sloan: Well, where's her dad?
- Nina Metro: He's on location in Italy.
- Graham Sloan: That's an answer?
- Nina Metro: She needs help, Graham.
- Graham Sloan: Why do you think I can help her?
- Nina Metro: Well, aren't you the one that loves her?
- Graham Sloan: What's that gonna fix? Is that gonna help her?
- Graham Sloan: I need something, Martin.
- Martin: You need some fucking 'ludes.
- Graham Sloan: No, I need something more than this!
- Martin: Graham, what else is there? You already have everything.
- Graham Sloan: I need someone to tell me what is good. Okay? And I need someone to tell me what is bad.
- Christie: [regarding a little mark that appeared on her arm] Look, I have no idea what this is. And another one on my foot.
- [proffers slinky foot for him to inspect]
- Graham Sloan: [declines] Yeah, I don't know what it is either. Look, Christie, tell me something.
- Christie: What?
- Graham Sloan: What do you think about Martin?
- Christie: He's cool. He's hot.
- Graham Sloan: Yeah, hot. Hmm. Well... I know that. But... I'm just not sure that I'm at the same place as you are. You know, with everything that's... that's been going on with him. Forget it. Sorry I brought it up.
- Christie: Graham. Martin's not even staying here. He's staying at Nina Metro's. Even though he said she was insane. That reminds me... Did you get tickets for tomorrow night at the Greek? Bryan Metro? Graham! You know he doesn't mean as much as you to me.
- [scoffs]
- Christie: Come on, Graham, we are all just having fun, you know? Like, you take it all too seriously.
- Graham Sloan: Yeah, but you're also sleeping with him, and it's just stressing me out.
- Christie: What's wrong? You know I'm on the pill. Graham? Graham?
- Graham Sloan: Yeah?
- Christie: You're forgetting something.
- Graham Sloan: What?
- Christie: We're both sleeping with him. We're both sleeping with Martin. And if I'm cool with that... then...
- Rachel: So, did anybody see that Robert Waters is here?
- Tim: Who's that?
- Les Price: Come on, Tim. Robert Waters.
- [Rachel scoffs]
- Les Price: Star of The Flight Patrol. It's a television show.
- [Rachel chuckles]
- Les Price: On television.
- Tim: I don't know. I guess I just must not watch enough TV.
- Les Price: [scoffs] Yeah, right.
- Rachel: Wait. You don't know who Robert Waters is?
- Tim: No, I... I don't. You do, I guess?
- Rachel: Well, I met him at Reagan's inauguration. God, I thought everybody knew who Robert Waters is.
- Tim: I... I don't. Why do you guys care?
- Rachel: Well, it's a little weird.
- Tim: Why?
- Les Price: He's here with three guys. The very macho star of Flight Patrol is here with three dudes.
- Tim: So?
- Les Price: So one of them tried to pick up Tim today.
- Tim: Me? When?
- Rachel: At the beach. Today at the bar.
- Tim: That guy?
- Les Price: Yeah. That guy.
- Tim: Look, he... he was nice. He was a nice guy.
- Les Price: [sarcastic] Yeah, I'm sure he was really nice.
- Rachel: Real nice.
- [mocking laugh at Tim, who, to hide his discomfort, lights up a cigarette]
- Rachel: You smoke?
- Les Price: I told you, Tim.
- Tim: What?
- Rachel: It's bad for you.
- Les Price: He knows. I told him last night.
- Tim: [taking a delight in smoking, blowing clouds of smoke] Am I blowing this in your face? I mean, really, is this... is this actually bothering you? I mean, we're... we're outside.
- Rachel: Look, you just shouldn't smoke, Tim.
- Tim: Okay, I'm gonna finish this cigarette somewhere else, since you two don't like it.
- [Rachel scoffs]
- Tim: The odds looking pretty good tonight, huh, Dad?
- [goes off, leaving the pretty girl to Dad]
- Rachel: [sighs] Tim, stop.
- Les Price: Let him go.
- Rachel: [clears throat] Well, thank you for dinner, Les.
- [prepares to leave]
- Les Price: Hey, hey, we're not done here.
- Rachel: No, look, just tell Tim that I'm sorry.
- Les Price: Let's have another drink, come on.
- Rachel: You know, I'll see you guys tomorrow.
- Les Price: Don't let him spoil the party, come on.
- Susan Sloan: How's work?
- William Sloan: It's good. I have a full slate of movies that are testing really high. There's one you might really like.
- Susan Sloan: Yeah? What's that?
- William Sloan: It's a movie about a... this twelve-year-old boy who, uh, becomes the president.
- Susan Sloan: The president of... what?
- William Sloan: The United States.
- Susan Sloan: Sounds better than the one about the talking car. How's Graham?
- William Sloan: Well, you know your brother. He's, uh, a little hard to reach. But, uhm, I'm sure he's upset about his friend's death, so, you know, it's tough. When I saw him at the memorial, he seemed fine, though.
- Susan Sloan: [skeptical] He seemed fine... at Bruce's memorial?
- William Sloan: [slight nod] Yeah.
- Susan Sloan: [sighs] So how's Cheryl, by the way?
- William Sloan: [shakes his head] I'm not seeing Cheryl anymore. Uh...
- Susan Sloan: What? When did this happen?
- William Sloan: That's, uh, something I wanted to talk to you about, actually. Uh... you talked to your Mom lately?
- Susan Sloan: We talked. You know, uh, when she's coherent, which is rarely. Why?
- William Sloan: Well, Mom and I are moving back in together. We're, uh, we're gonna live together again.
- Susan Sloan: She didn't tell me that.
- Susan Sloan: How do you feel about that?
- Susan Sloan: Great! Great. This is a really good move.
- [unenthusiastic]
- Susan Sloan: Yeah. Really.
- William Sloan: Seriously? I mean, you really think it's great?
- Susan Sloan: Well, to be totally honest, Dad, it totally hit me that you might actually be serious.
- William Sloan: Oh, I am serious. Yes. We're gonna be a family again.
- Susan Sloan: [shakes her head] Graham and I aren't moving back in... Dad. We're not gonna be a family. You and Mom are gonna be a couple again, but we're not gonna be a family.
