Reverend Trask has to find and destroy the witch in this house.

Warning: Spoilers
The character of Tony Pearson in the 1967 episodes was a traditional soap opera character, and Jerry Lacy created an interesting character that would fade out due to the transition to 1795. Now he's part of the "Dark Shadows" ensemble of actors that have gone back in time, cast as Reverend Trask, a self-appointed witch hunter from Salem, very similar to a role that Vincent Price played around the same time in "The Witchfinder General". Trask is there at the bequest of the deranged Abigail, with Victoria as her and Natalie's target. Trask becomes brutal in his cross examination of Victoria, and unfortunately, Victoria in no position to reveal where she's from and why she was dressed as she was when she got there.

"If anyone is possessed by the devil, he is", Victoria says after striking him, and he strikes her right back. The blows are real in this scene which is pretty shocking. Even Natalie becomes horrified by what Abigail and Trask are doing, and that adds a little bit of sympathy to her complicated character. A later scene between Grayson Hall and Clarice Blackburn shows what powerhouse acting is all about, and poor Victoria is left outside to suffer innocently because of someone else. Powerful and spooky with a fabulous new villainous character.

Overblown

Warning: Spoilers
Episode 385 goes all WITCHFINDER GENERAL with the arrival of Reverend Trask from Salem. He immediately targets Victoria, which leads to plenty of histrionics, but it all seems to be a little bit rushed and unbelievable. Dramatic, yes, but overblown with it.
