It's the aftermath of Carolyn being attacked by Barnabas, and somehow she's very calm and almost accepting of what happened. Julia is looking in on her and there is a very spooky montage of a man walking up the stairs, and you're not sure who it is. Julia doesn't know if Barnabas has gone back to his youthful self yet, so it's a very dramatic moment when the man finally enters the room where Carolyn is resting after her ordeal. There's a discussion over Carolyn's reaction to the attack, and she's surprisingly calm. It gives Nancy Barrett some really good material to work with.
This is the first time we've seen Louis Edmonds as Roger in weeks, and he's discussing with Elizabeth David's issues. Roger is acting more like he's David's Uncle better than his father with Elizabeth acting more like his mother. There's no mention of Burke either, and considering the circumstances surrounding their rivalry, that is rather surprising. Carolyn comes in as the two are about to retire oh, Elizabeth expresses worry while Roger shows very little emotion outside of the fact that Carolyn made her mother worry. Outside of the details concerning the writing for Roger, everything else is fine. Still it's disconcerting that they leave out those details which should have been little details to close out the past story of Roger and Burke.
