The thought of Julia following Barnabas to the mausoleum is a risky one for the good doctor, certain to risk her life by spying on Bananas. But Barnabas ends up confiding to her about his years being locked in a coffin in the mausoleum, rescued by Willie and now concerned that his secret may be revealed thanks to David. They find David's pen knife and Barnabas is certain that he must have to silence him. Sam and Dr. Woodard also go there and encounter the nutty caretaker (Daniel Keyes' last appearance) then go inside the mausoleum where Julia and Barnabas hide. This gives Barnabas the hints that perhaps David has spoken which of course he will not tolerate.
It's a shame that Daniel Keyes did not make any more appearances on the show as his character is delightfully eccentric and perfect for the gothic atmosphere. He was integral in the Laura Collins story and certainly had an important if minor part in this little bit of David adventure. The sound effects of the approaching storm aren't entirely realistic but that's a minor issue in an otherwise intriguing episode.
