Smug and camp
Leofwine_draca14 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Episode 254 entertains amid a mix of a smug Jason and an outrageously camp Buzz, as the battle of wits between Carolyn and Elizabeth continues to play out. It's a lot different to what you expect from the show, but fun with it.

Could you imagine Phoebe Tyler in Elizabeth's situation?

Warning: Spoilers
It should be mentioned that actresses Joan Dennis and Ruth Warrick shared several things, most notably the role of the mother in "Father of the Bride", Joan on screen and Ruth in the TV series. They also shared several co-stars, most notably Louis Edmunds as Joan's brother and Ruth's husband on "All My Children", with Phoebe's first TV husband Hugh Franklin as Joan's TV lawyer. As two Grande Dames of the TV soaps, Joan and Ruth were certainly scene stealers, and in the first years of "AMC", Ruth highly resembled Joan.

That being said, Elizabeth and Phoebe were as different as night and day, with Elizabeth seemingly unable to control the men around her and her family. Phoebe on the other hand could make them soil their pants. I can't see Phoebe putting up with Carolyn's antics, especially where Buzz is concerned. She certainly wouldn't allow Jason to get away with his blackmail, and probably have had him locked up and the key thrown away. But Jason here is getting crazier, not only one in a piece of Elizabeth's pie but whatever Willie is getting working with Barnabas. There's a lot of joyful snark in this episode between Carolyn and Jason, yet the idiotic Buzz is eye rollingly bad.
