As the truth dawns on Maggie who she realizes who she is, she decides to play along with both Barnabas and Willie that she believes that she is Josette, even when Barnabas tries to fool her into revealing that she knows who she really is. This focuses on three characters, especially the smart Maggie who up until now had actually been the smartest younger woman on the show, certainly brighter than Victoria and more street smart than Carolyn. The writing for her in recent episodes had not been consistent as far as she is concerned, a minor complaint but certainly noticeable.
A lot of the discussion between Barnabas and Willie is seeing through Maggie's eyes with her listening to them as their voices are heard. You get to hear the heartbeat very loudly of the sleeping Barnabas, and Maggie, being where she shouldn't be, gets into trouble with Willie initially and has a frightening encounter in the last moment that truly makes this and on a spooky note. Kathryn Leigh Scott is very good in this episode and it gave us hope that the writing is getting back to show her character of Maggie Evans in a consistent way that had been missing recently.
