Worried about Willie and miffed about Maggie.
mark.waltz28 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The poetic way in which Barnabas speaks about the power of blood as a life force really adds to the great details in his characterization. "It's like a delicate flower painted under glass", Barnabas says in his description of the slide of Willie's blood, to which Dr. Woodard replies to the beauty of the most vile diseases on earth when seen on a slide, very ironic considering what Covid looks like in a scientific manner. Barnabas gives an indication of what he thinks of the obvious curse of his existence which adds on even more dimensions.

Then there's the B story with Burke and Victoria at the Blue Whale, still expressing concern over Maggie in spite of a presumed romantic evening. Check out the use of extreme fog machines out of the window, as well as the use of instrumental music followed by the howling dogs. Not as good as the two previous episodes, but filled with intrigue and suspense.

A little subterfuge

Warning: Spoilers
Episode 245 offers a little subterfuge from Barnabas, who turns out to be more human in his ways than I initially gave him credit for. His act in switching the blood samples is much more sneaky than you'd expect. Elsewhere, Burke proves unexpectedly heavy-handed with Victoria, and the doctor is rather slow.
