Apparently Dark Shadows episodes 109 and 110 do not exist, explaining the jump from 108 to 111. So in viewing these episodes, I had to research that because 108 ended on a strong note with Thayer David's Matthew Morgan confessing to murder. Stage veterans Thayer David is very commanding as he reveals what appears to be the truth. His sincerity and regrets are obvious. Elizabeth and Frank are concerned because of Vicky's sudden disappearance, unaware that Matthew lied to Elizabeth when he was contacted by her earlier. Sheriff Patterson shows up, and character actor Dana elcar who went on to greater fame long after this, shows his concern because of Victoria's disappearance. A search for Victoria is planned. Meanwhile, Victoria goes out of her way to explain to Matthew why killing her would be a huge mistake.
It is episodes like this where you become grateful that the show has moved at a slow pace because when they build to a dramatic conclusion, it becomes exciting and unforgettable. There's a great twist at the end that is one of the great scenes of the series' first year, and it is obvious that the plot is going to be carried out even further before it truly comes to an end.
