Not even two weeks ago, a foreign press release seemingly leaked details on who Sylvester Stallone is playing in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The cast list revealed Stallone would be playing Stakar, also known as Starhawk in the comics. Director James Gunn is usually very open about casting, so the leak, combined with the lack of an announcement, left us all wondering if it was some sort of ruse.
Now Stitch Kingdom on Twitter has not only confirmed that Stallone will be playing Stakar, but also provides context on his role in the film and relationship with Yondu, played by Michael Rooker:

Stallone vs. Rooker? Rooker isn't a chump, but even with his awesome whistle controlled arrow, I don't think he would do well with an "intense confrontation" with the formidable Stallone.

Tangled duo Rapunzel and Flynn may be seen attending Elsa’s coronation in Frozen, but if there’s any other connection between the two Disney franchises, Mandy Moore doesn’t want to hear it.

From Flushed Away and Hunchback to Titan A.E. and Sky High - the family movies that don't get the love they deserve...
When I sit through a film such as Zootropolis, Rango, Frozen, Wreck-It Ralph, Eddie The Eagle or Coraline, I can’t help but be thankful somebody has bothered. As a parent as well as a movie lover, I’ve grown to really dislike family movies that just turn up to act as a surrogate babysitter for 90 minutes, with no intention of becoming anybody’s favourite film. The films I'm going to talk about are the family movies therefore that I think both try and do something a bit more, yet continue to fly under many people's radar.
A bonus mention before we get going, and number 26 in the list, much to my surprise: Alvin & The Chipmunks 4. I was expecting next to zero from it, courtesy...

Is ITV really going to bring back Cold Feet?
That's the rumour, with the broadcaster apparently looking to plug the Downton-shaped hole in its schedule with a revival of the popular comedy-drama.
If it's true, they'll have a job bringing the cast back together - some have gone on to be huge telly and film stars, while others have stepped out of the spotlight entirely...

Nesbitt's carefree lothario Adam Williams met his match in Helen Baxendale's Rachel - the couple overcame infidelity and infertility but were denied lasting happiness when Rachel was killed in a traffic accident.
Since Cold Feet wrapped, Nesbitt has become one of British television's most in-demand leading men.
He fronted BBC One's gritty cop series Murphy's Law from 2003-07, led Steven Moffat's supernatural thriller Jekyll - also in 2007 - and played the title character in ITV's short-lived medical drama Monroe (2011-12).

2Nd Update, Tuesday 4 Am Pt: Actuals are in for the international weekend with no major discrepancies save for a big drop on Taken 3. The cast of our future favorite show just keeps getting better! Nick Jonas has joined the cast of Fox's upcoming horror comedy anthology, which will spend its first season set in a sorority house at a college that has been rocked by a series of murders. It's kind of impressive that the youngest Jonas Brother even has time to add another project to his plate, since he's been pretty busy lately. He released new music in the fall and starred in DirecTV's mixed martial arts drama Kingdom, which has already been renewed for two seasons. He'll also be appearing on The Voice as mentor for Christina Aguilera's team during the battle rounds after season 8 premieres next month. Jonas is just...

Androids, magic, parallel worlds, ghostly crime, and the apocalypse. Here’s a raft of new forthcoming UK sci-fi and fantasy TV…
The superhero genre may be taking up residence in cinemas for the foreseeable, and Game Of Thrones and The Walking Dead are leading Us TV's genre output, but what can fans of UK sci-fi and fantasy look forward to seeing on television over the next year?
There’s Doctor Who of course, which appears to be in rude health and going nowhere, a Christmas Special from Black Mirror, and a hint of new Red Dwarf on its way. (And of course, if there’s anything like justice in the world, the terrific In The Flesh will be recommissioned for a third series.)
If though, you’re thirsting for something new, 2015 is promising to deliver a handful of geek TV gems. We’ve scoured the new UK commission announcements for anything spooky,...

It’s quite an honor to curate the soundtrack for what will likely be the biggest film of the year, and Lorde is pulling out the big guns as well as lesser-known up-and-coming acts.
In addition to her own contributions, the “Royals” songstress has shared that Kanye West, Miguel, Chvrches and the Chemical Brothers are all included in the track listing.
Lorde shared, "Curating the soundtrack for such a hotly anticipated film was a challenge, but I jumped at the chance. The cast and story are an inspiration for all musicians participating and, as someone with cinematic leanings, being privy to a different creative process has been a unique experience. I think the soundtrack is definitely going to surprise people."
Still holding one surprise in her grasp, Lorde hasn’t announced what the 5th track on the album will be just yet.

Lorde rounded out her all-star "Hunger Games" soundtrack quite nicely, with all-new contributions from Haim, Charli Xcx, Kanye West, Grace Jones, Bat For Lashes, Miguel, the Chemical Brothers and more. The New Zealand-bred Grammy Award winner was charged with curating the sounds for "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1," and the resulting tracklist below. The song titles may not tell you much about what happens in the film, but they may help indicate at least a mood. We're extra curious about the "various" artist for ambiguous "Track 5" -- described as "an additional surprise track that will be revealed soon." Kanye West makes his mark on this set with a remix, of Lorde's previously released "Yellow Flicker Beat" (dubbed "Flicker"); Lorde also combined with Stromae, Pusha T, Q-Tip and Haim for a song called "Meltdown." The Chemical Brothers and Miguel collabarated, too, on "This Is Not A Game" (above...

ITV has commissioned a new drama titled The Trials of Jimmy Rose.
The three-part series will centre around Jimmy Roberts, a former gangster and ex-con who is attempting to regain the love and trust of his family.
It is written and created by Alan Whiting, who has previously worked on Strike Back and Kingdom.
Adrian Shergold, whose previous projects include Lucan and Mad Dogs, directs.
ITV's Kieran Roberts confirmed that the show will begin filming this autumn.
"The Trials of Jimmy Rose is a warm, funny and compelling drama about a family man with a criminal past who has to prove it's never too late to start over," Roberts explained.
ITV's Steve November added: "Alan Whiting has created an instantly memorable character, a man with too much to regret and not enough time to make amends.
"He's been a successful criminal but can he now become a successful husband and father?...

The 31-year-old continued: "You hope we will never do such terrible things to that extent again, although it doesn't seem like we've learned that much 100 years on.
"Unfortunately we still are making many of the same mistakes - they don't seem to learn, but they do make a lot of money out of war - that seems to be the overriding theme."

It's funny how so many on the Internet love to lament the lack of original storytelling in movies as sequels and reboots dominate the landscape. But mention some movie that was loved during the mid-'80s, when so many of today's movie-obsessed Internet commenters and bloggers grew up, and suddenly it's as if not only is a sequel something they want, but it becomes something to celebrate. Unfortunately your browser does not support IFrames. The latest such unnecessary, but "exciting" development is The Goonies director Richard Donner telling the gossip site TMZ.com, "We're doing a sequel," and when asked who from the original cast is coming back his response was all-inclusive, "Hopefully all of them!" Oh, yes, hopefully. The last time I remember hearing about a possible Goonies II was about seven years ago when Sean Astin made mention of a story that would center around the children of the original cast.

In an unexpected yet arguably rather brilliant bit of casting, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug star Stephen Fry (who is obviously already an extremely familiar face in the UK thanks to the likes of Qi and Kingdom) has signed up to play the British Prime Minister in 24: Live Another Day.
The event series is set to run for 12 episodes and picks up with Jack Bauer four years after the events of season eight. Deadline describes Fry’s part in the series as “a high-profile recurring role”, adding that the Pm he is playing will be named Trevor Davies and that the character is, “a strong and charismatic leader whose friendship with President Heller, and the Anglo-American alliance itself, come under tremendous pressure because of personal and political crises.”

Early last month, it was announced that Cooties would be making its world premiere at Sundance. We now have a look at the official poster and details on when the movie will be screening:

The virus centralizes in the town’s elementary school, and quickly the infected students have the teaching staff under siege, acting out deadly revenge fantasies with an eerie sense of childlike glee. Finally, the teachers band together, led by a hapless substitute who grew up in the town, realizing they must do the unthinkable if they hope to survive.”
Cooties was directed by Jonathan Millott and Cary Murnion, and written by Leigh Whannell and Ian Brennan. The cast includes Elijah Wood, Rainn Wilson, Alison Pill, Jack McBrayer, Leigh Whannell, and Nasim Pedrad. The poster...

The danger with middle films in intended trilogies is they can tread water, as the setup’s already taken care of and the finale’s being held back for the final flick. Given director Peter Jackson already smashed the middle film in his previous Middle Earth trilogy, there was less worry here than normally, but The Two Towers was a proper book in its own right, whereas The Desolation Of Smaug is a second adaptation of a relatively short children’s tale.
Perhaps conscious of this, Jackson sets off at a cracking pace that barely relents for the 160 minute running time. After a brief sojourn to Bree’s Prancing Pony for the original meeting of Gandalf and Thorin – itself laced with a palpable sense of menace sorely lacking in the first Hobbit’s early scenes – it’s pretty much all-action all the way. Much like the second Star Trek earlier this year,...

Picking up where An Unexpected Journey left off last year, Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is just weeks away from hitting the big screen, marking the second instalment in Jackson’s new trilogy, which has already taken north of a billion dollars at the box office with just one movie.
As you can imagine, the film is front and centre of Empire’s December issue, and as such, the magazine has released not just the main cover, but also four limited edition versions, teasing a look at Thorin Oakenshield in the webs of Mirkwood, Gandalf in the ruins of Dol Guldur, Bard the Bowman on the rooftops of Lake-Town, and Bilbo in the dragon’s lair of Erebor.
Exciting times. And as if that wasn’t good enough, two new TV spots have landed online to tease more of the action.
