It was a night of surprises at the 35th annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards as the younger shows shoved aside the veterans to take home the top prizes.
Rachael Ray, The Tyra Banks Show and Cristina's Court were surprise winners in the categories of best talk show, entertainment and informative, and best legal/courtroom program Friday night at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. All are new categories this year (talk show had never been split into two divisions before).
Rachael Ray which debuted in 2006, won over "The View" and The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which had won best talk show for the previous four years. DeGeneres, however, still walked away with her fourth consecutive trophy for best talk show host. While DeGeneres said backstage that it felt odd to be carrying only one statue this year, she was a good sport, hijacking the microphone to announce Ray and her crew.

Actress-comedian-author Jackie Guerra has been meeting with top-level producers around town discussing a daytime talk show, sources said.
Guerra would host the project, being discussed as a possible syndicated show, sources said. Latino talent has become a big part of syndication as multiple talk show pilots this past development season featured Latina hosts, and courts shows including The People's Court, Judge Maria Lopez, Judge Alex and Cristina's Court feature Latino judges.
Guerra's reps at Rebel Entertainment Partners and Brillstein-Grey are tight-lipped about the discussions and declined comment, but Guerra is no stranger to daytime as she has made a number of appearances on The Tyra Banks Show to discuss topics including her recent weight loss; she also was developing a daytime talk show with Dick Clark Prods. in the late 1990s.
Guerra is the author of books including "Under Construction: How I've Gained and Lost Millions of Dollars and Hundreds of Pounds" and hosts a show on Air America called Workin' It. As an actress, her credits include PBS' drama series American Family, WB Network's comedy series First Time Out and the feature film Selena.
