Wogan ranked 35th in the charts this week with an average of 7.03 million viewers an episode.
While Richard Gibson and Kim Hartman briefly drop out of character to speak to Terry as themselves, Gorden Kaye and Carmen Silvera remain in character as René and Edith throughout.
With the routine between themselves and Terry clearly pre-rehearsed (Terry even obviously using an autocue for his lines) Kaye seems uncomfortable when Terry tries to get him to briefly ad-lib in character. When Gibson and Hartman talk as themselves, "René" says "I 'ave never 'eard them speaking like this before", but seems flustered by Terry's "What do they normally speak like?", answering "Well... (clears throat) anybody's guess. You've put me on the spot, Terry."
