Dream your Dream
manfredi-buonomo26 August 2006
Dream your dream, with intimacy.

As most of the movies I love and most important things that happened in my life, I saw Intimità by chance. It was a private viewing and I just was there for some of those lucky accidents that, thanks god, at times occur. Intimità was a dream. Being a dream this does not imply it was a beautiful one, nor a nightmare. Dreams are free, an unrequested trip in a non --place that lasting the 30 seconds of a real dream, but they might linger in your emotional memory forever. Meeting Intimità was a dream, first a trip in the movie and, later in myself mirroring the experience I saw with my personal past. Intimità also confirms something I personally always firmly believed in; you don't measure a movie by its length but by its deepness and Intimità is at the same time beautiful in the depth it may bring you to, just as it is aesthetically close to perfection, a pleasure for the eyes to view. The director caresses the story, like in a smooth, discrete surfacing and it's your choice to be a spectator and swim or to dive into it's non-swimming pool. Intimità is about love, communication, beauty and never-lost memories that, every now and then, keep popping up, just like dreams. Although I consider myself a movie addict I never heard before of Minetto, but I noticed in the credits among others, than the cinematography was of Edmond Richard who we know well since long time, from Bunuel's "Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie or That Obscure Object of Desire" or from Orwell's "Trial" and other masterpieces. I must say that once more he chose a perfect partner. I am waiting for Minetto's next dream, hoping it will come soon. I'm sure you'll love it like I did, like I do.
