The big finale of "American Idol"'s 11th season is finally upon us this week, and we noticed that this year's two finalists look as cut out for the camera as they do for the stage (hello Phillip Phillips!).
It certainly doesn't hurt that so many "Idol" alums before them have successfully launched from the show's giant platform into the world of film.
In fact, there have been a lot of reality stars in general who've made a name in the movie scene. Here are our top 15.
15. Carrie Underwood, 'American Idol'
Credits: "Soul Surfer"
For "Idol" Season 4 winner Carrie Underwood, five Grammys, dozens of other accolades, four successful albums, and pretty hair just wasn't enough. She first gave her thespian itch a scratch on the small screen in 2010 with guest stints on "Sesame Street" and "How I Met Your Mother" before going full-blown Hollywood for 2011's "Soul Surfer,...

Kenny Wormald is getting his first big leading role by recreating the character Ren MacCormack in Footloose. He's previously been featured in the MTV series Dancelife and films like Center Stage: Turn It Up and You Got Served. The remake opens up today in theaters, but not many know much more of the up and comer.
We Want More Though.
Well, not really. It is intriguing though to know who's portraying Kevin Bacon's iconic role for no reason.
Here's some other trivia about the actor:
- Was a dancer in Kevin Smith's Clerks II. Don't remember for the life of me how dancers were involved. I'm still scarred from that donkey show.
- He's from Bahston, Massachusetts and was born in 1984.
- He used to date Ashley Roberts from the Pussycat Dolls for three years.
- According to our records, he has Not stolen Julianne Hough away from Ryan Seacrest yet.

Updating a classic can be treacherous, like building a strip mall on hallowed ground; but director Craig Brewer ("Hustle & Flow") avoided the dreaded "High School Musical" route for his remake of "Footloose."
Fans will be relieved to hear that two of the original songs made the cut. Some other adjustments include having four very different dance sequences, and demolition derby buses instead of tractors. Brewer also anchored the script by fleshing out a backstory in which five Bomont teens were tragically killed after a night of dancing and loud music.
But the best upgrade to "Footloose" is the casting of professional dancers in the two lead roles. Everybody loves '80s dance movies, but come on, back then it was super-obvious whenever they swapped Kevin Bacon or Jennifer Beals with their wig-wearing dance doubles.

The film, opening this Friday, is already catching some major buzz.

New American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez is heaping more on her plate: The actress/singer is set to produce a new hour-long dramedy for ABC that will “center on three branches of an extended Los Angeles family — as told through the eyes of their three Latina nannies,” according to Variety. Lopez and her producing partner Simon Fields are joining with Friends and Big Love writer Alexa Junge for the still-untitled project.
ABC’s pretty full of family-centric shows these days: Modern Family, No Ordinary Family, Brothers & Sisters, The Middle, Better With You, maybe even Cougar Town. Lopez’s producing record isn’t hugely encouraging — Dancelife,...

There's nothing shocking about major American Idol news breaking in the middle of the TCA press tour. It was this time a year ago when Fox sent us reeling with word that Simon Cowell would be peacing out at the end of season nine. And in hindsight, even that doesn't seem so out of left field, as it was becoming increasingly clear that Cowell had grown too big for his britches and well, bored with being the main attraction on America's most popular TV show.
Since the annoucement, fans, critics and even would-be candidates themselves, have been throwing names in the hat as possible Simon replacements, or in the case of the rumored deal with Jessica Simpson, Paula's replacement. Now add to the mix, Ellen DeGeneres' departure and the allegeded firing of Kara DioGuardi and we've got a number of empty seats to fill...or not?

Remember our latest Footloose report where we talked about Thomas Dekker, who was, at the time, the top candidate to play Bacon’s classic character from the original film? At the time, yeah, exactly. Because he’s no longer actual!
Check this out: Ren McCormack will now be played by Kenny Wormald, a 25-year-old dancer best known for his appearances on MTV reality show Dancelife.
And, yes, that does mean this guy knows how to dance, but can he act, that’s the question now. Not much of experience, but, let’s give him a chance! What’s the worst that could happen? At least we do expect to see some great moves.
Wormald is professional dancer who has appeared in music videos for Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Chris Brown and Nelly Furtado and also had a starring role in the straight-to-dvd film Center Stage 2.

Kenny Wormald, who will star in the Footloose remake to be released April 1, 2011, is not a complete unknown, you charlatans! He toured with Justin Timberlake, was featured in MTV’s Dancelife, played a shirtless backup dancer on the third episode of The CW’s Melrose Place, and contributed his ballet and hip-hop techniques as Tommy Anderson in Center Stage 2. As pictured, Kenny has already nearly achieved 1980 Kevin Baconness. If I want to be picky, he is about six degrees away. He needs 1) Fluffier hair; 2) better turnout; 3) slim-fit jeans; 4) slightly pursed lips; 5) haunting lighting scheme; 6) a car. Right now he is like Bacos,...

Paramount Pictures has announced that newcomer, Kenny Wormald, will replace Chace Crawford (Gossip Girl) in the remake of the 1980s hit, 'Footloose.'
Originally Zac Efron, and then Chace Crawford, were each slated to play the role of "Ren McCormack," but ultimately chose not to do the film.
Similar to the casting process that took place on the original film in 1984 where both Tom Cruise and Rob Lowe were the film's first choices as the lead male, ultimately the part went to Kevin Bacon and the rest is history.
While Kenny may be new to the average film enthusiast, he isn’t new to the world of dance and on-screen acting. Most dance fans know him from MTV’s, ‘Dancelife,’ as well as the lead in the 2008 feature ‘Center Stage: Light it Up’ as "Tommy Anderson." Just in case you're unsure of Wormald's credentials as a dancer, you...

Hollywood newcomer Kenny Wormald is stepping into Kevin Bacon's shoes for the remake of movie musical Footloose following the departures of both Zac Efron and Chace Crawford.
The project has been delayed twice in recent months after the two top choices quit.
Thomas Dekker, the star of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, had been tipped to take over the lead role, but Paramount Pictures executives announced on Tuesday that Wormald had landed the part.
The 25-year-old professional dancer has previously appeared on Jennifer Lopez's MTV reality show DanceLife and 2008 movie Center Stage 2: Turn it Up.
Actress Lori Singer is expected to return to make an appearance in the new Footloose, 17 years after she played Bacon's wildchild love interest Ariel in the 1984 film. Singer Julianna Hough is still tapped to play Ariel in the remake, which will be directed by Craig Brewer.
The movie is expected to hit movie theatres in April, 2011.

Paramount Pictures announced this morning that the Footloose remake has completed principal casting and is now scheduled to open April 1, 2011. Following yesterday's Fright Night announcement, this is the second 80s remake to secure a 2011 date in the last two days. Newcomer Kenny Wormald has been cast in the lead role of Ren, the character Kevin Bacon portrayed in the 1984 original, while Julianne Hough, best known as a two-time Dancing with the Stars champion, will co-star as Ariel, previously played by Lori Singer. By far the biggest name in the cast, though, is Dennis Quaid, who will fill John Lithgow's shoes as Reverend Moore. Craig Brewer (Hustle and Flow, Black Snake Moan) is set to direct the movie from a script he adapted. Footloose is currently scheduled to open against Universal's Hop, which features Russell Brand lending his voice to a CG-animated Easter Bunny. Footlose finally has its Ren. Stepping into the shoes of Kevin Bacon (and Zac Efron and Chace Crawford, who both circled the project), it's Kenny Wormald. Who is Wormald? He's a 25-year-old actor and dancer who hails from Boston and counts among his credits MTV's Dancelife (TV) and the film Center Stage: Turn It Up (2008). He also recently toured with Justin Timberlake. Wormald joins the previously announced Julianne Hough, the former Dancing with the Stars (TV) champ, who'll play Ariel. Also newly introduced to the cast are Dennis Quaid as Reverend Moore and Miles Teller as Willard. Footloose (2010) will start shooting soon with an eye toward a 2011 release.

Our long national nightmare is over! The Footloose remake finally has a cast. Now I can rest easy tonight. Mostly because no one I care too much about is in the movie, which Craig Brewer (Hustle and Flow, Black Snake Moan) is still directing. Ok, there's Dennis Quaid, playing John Lithgow's role, but he's been in worse. The rest of the names, each of which is sure to thrill you in different ways, after the break. A press release from Paramount announces that little-known Kenny Wormald has the lead role formerly made iconic by Kevin Bacon. Wormald is a Boston kid who has been on the MTV series Dancelife and Center Stage: Turn it Up and toured with Justin Timberlake and The Pussycat Dolls. In January 2010, Sky1 HD’s spectacular new dance contest Got To Dance shimmied onto the channel to much fanfare. Edinburgh, Manchester and London played host to auditions where competitors took to the stage in front of an expert, contemporary dance panel consisting of Diversity lead choreographer Ashley Banjo, Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt, and Coyote Ugly and West End star Adam Garcia. Host Davina McCall was on hand to congratulate or comfort those who managed or failed to make the grade. Now they’re all back for a second series that promises to be bigger, bolder and better than ever before. This time the stakes are higher as the acts compete for the biggest ever talent show prize of £250,000 in front of an even bigger studio audience of 1,200 people.
Davina McCall said, “I’m not sure if it’s legal to enjoy my job so much but Got To Dance is my dream show!

MGM has debuted the new theatrical trailer for Fame, the remake of the 1980 musical of the same name. This marks the directing debut of former "Dancelife" and "The Search for the Next Pussycat Doll" director Kevin Tancharoen. I think MGM is trying to inspire a new generation of youngsters with Fame, and I expect they'll get a whole lot of people interested with this. Even if you don't like musicals, you've got to admit, this is a very well put together trailer. It really builds the excitement and I'll admit that I want to see this. I hate to say it, but I'm probably more excited for Fame than I am for Rob Marshall's Nine, in terms of musicals. The search for America’s favorite dancer is back! “So You Think You Can Dance” kicked off its fifth season last week, and last night, we got the chance to see the Miami and Memphis auditions, where thousands of pointy-toed contemporary dancers and bright-eyed poppers and lockers showed up for the chance to dance their way into America’s heart and to go on to a life of fame and fortune … or not.
Wait — where are all the former “Sytycd” contestants? As Kris Allen basks in the glory of his “American Idol” win, we couldn’t help but wonder what life after “Sytycd” looks like.
Since focusing on the competition’s winners would be a tad depressing (where is Sabra Johnson?), we decided to look back at what the show’s most successful, or at least most visible, graduates are doing now — and where you can find them next:

Here you go, folks, it's the moment you've all been waiting for... the first teaser trailer for the remake of the classic '80s dance movie Fame! Are you as excited about this movie as I am? Not only is it another story about kids overcoming obstacles in life through the use of killer dance moves, but it's chock full of nostalgia too! To be honest, the only thing I remember about the 1980 movie and subsequent TV series is the theme song. That's all you really need... and yep, they've got that in the teaser trailer. So I'm pretty much sold. I just wish the trailer would have shown more of Kelsey Grammer popping and locking. Director Kevin Tancharoen previously had a bit role in You Got Served, and directed some episodes of the Dance Life and Pussycat Dolls reality shows. This is going to be amazing. Fame hits theatres...

Thomas Dekker wants to live forever.
The star of Fox's "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" is in talks to take a lead role in MGM's remake of the 1980 musical "Fame." Dekker is gunning to play Marco, a working-class kid with some gnarly acting chops who is competing with thousands of other hopefuls to get into and survive an elite New York public high school for the arts.
Written by Allison Burnett, the revamp will be directed by Kevin Tancharoen, a director and choreographer who has worked in TV (MTV's "DanceLife"), on music videos and on tours for such singers as Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson. Mark Canton ("300") is producing the $25 million project along with Gary Lucchesi and Tom Rosenberg of Lakeshore Entertainment ("Elegy").
