Premiered at Tokyo's Iwanami Hall.
Kayoko Shiraishi, who was 56 at the time of the film's release, played the role Midori in the film from her thirties until her seventies using special effects makeup to gradually change her age. Director Sachi Hamano stated that she couldn't see anyone else playing the role, and decided not to cast multiple actresses for different ages.
Yumiko Matsumoto, a journalist from Midori Osaki's hometown in Tottori prefecture, helped in collecting donations from over 10,000 people for the film's funding. Most were women and from Tottori as well as from others across Japan.
