Moe breaks the fourth wall in this episode when Marge calls the camp after Homer failed to show up for their second date. Here, Marge asks to speak to Elvis Jagger Abdul-Jabbar, Homer's alias he gave to Marge, to which Moe replies in a manner similar to how he does whenever Bart prank calls his bar in the future. He then follows up by saying "...and that's the origin of that"
Homer's alias Elvis Jagger Abdul-Jabbar are parodies of Elvis Presley, Mick Jagger and Karim Abdul-Jabbar.
At one point, Marge calls the story "a little WB." This is a reference to the WB Network, whose sitcoms are in the romance genre.
It makes sense Homer wouldn't recognize Marge was his childhood crush even with her hair burnt. Children's faces change with puberty.
If the flashbacks happened in the 21st century, Camp Flab Away would be in big legal trouble. Homer wasn't registered as an attendant of the camp and its obvious Bill is so uncaring that he never bothers with checking paperwork. He was illegally detaining a minor, as there is no proof Homer was EVER a camper.
