Cop Vs Columnist
TheFearmakers16 September 2022
Many cop shows have an episode with the lawmen having to deal with sophisticated writers, usually journalists, in this case Tim O'Connor as a cross between Burt Lancaster's driven gossip columnist in SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS and especially Clifton Webb's caustic columnist in LAURA, making Burt a kind of polar opposite Dana Andrews as he must keep O'Connor from trying to solve the beachside murder of his daughter quicker than the police aren't able to do, to his liking, and the best culprit is her hippie boyfriend, who the columnist has it in for, spends time on paper and on TV spouting about... And it's a pretty good episode overall with a strong mainline narrative, and gorgeous blonde Alexandra Hay can make anyone's day.
