Enjoyable, but Missing Something,

My Fair Laddy is a good Simpsons episode with a well written storyline and some very funny scenes. It's very enjoyable, I liked seeing an episode focus on Groundskeeper Willie, as we see him turn in to a more polite, sophisticated version of himself, I loved the transition in his voice, some very impressive work done by Dan Castellaneta. Admittedly, I did feel it had more potential than it delivered, the plot was lacking really development, seeing Willie go from rough to posh, and back again without really giving us a reason why each time. I also felt it could have had some heart, despite a relationship forming between Lisa and Willie, there's is no indication that the two have became closer, there's never a sense of a friendship between them, it would have been a nice extra layer to the plot. Boasting some great songs and a fun story, it's not a highlight of the seventeenth season, but My Fair Laddy is an enjoyable Simpsons episode.

Lisa challenges herself in to turning Groundskeeper Willie in to a real gentleman.

Not so good

This episode wasn't one of my favourites of the Simpsons, it just wasn't consistent.

The episode got off to a funny start, with Bart's troubles with th Gym teacher, but then it just stopped being funny. Groundskeeper Willie is one of my favourite characters in the show, and lets face it, it was never going to work turning him into a real gentleman.

IGN named this episode as the best of the 17th season, i'd have to disagree, as their was plenty of better episodes than this.

It's not an awful episode, but if you are not a fan of new Simpsons, then you will probably not enjoy it. It has some funny parts in, but nothing great.

6/10.

My Fair Laddy or Why I Started To Hate Modern Simpsons

Over time, there have been newly worse episodes than this one, that's the truth, even today it is not so lame like in the past. The problem is that it is still as bad as it was on the first day.

The writers take a character that has to be flat to maintain the status quo of the series and try to change him to make a story that doesn't even make you laugh. Seriously, if the point of the joke was to parody the movie My Fair Lady it's been a total failure, because I didn't laugh once. At least the secondary plot, while also lame, takes some of the boredom out of the main plot.

Warning: Spoilers
Season 17 was the first episode that I have watched. I enjoyed watching all the episodes, but out of all those episodes, I found out that "My Fair Laddy" is the best episode of this season. And also my favourite episode of Season 17. It's great to see Groundskeeper Willie transition from school groundskeeper to a gentleman, but in the end, he embraced who he really is, and was quite happy about it. From I what I've experienced and learned from this episode, I think it's better to better to truthful than be untruthful. Even if isn't glamorous, its honest, understandable, and perhaps well meaning.
