- TriviaThis episode marks the first appearance of Benny Lee as 'Mr. Klein'. He was Croft and Lloyd's fourth attempt to replace the huge hole left when Arthur Brough left the series in early 1978. Brough decided to quit the series after his wife of more than 50 years, Elizabeth Addeyman, passed away in April of '78. Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft were hoping that Brough would pull himself out of his depression in order to sign him on for the fifth season of the show. Sadly, Arthur Brough died on May 28, 1978. James Hayter was then brought in to try to fill Brough's shoes as 'Mr. Tebbs'. He lasted just one season. The producers then went with Alfie Bass as 'Mr. Goldberg'. When Bass demanded he be credited before the titles of the show, such as "Alfie Bass Starring in...", he was let go. Veteran actor Milo Sperber was then brought in as 'Mr. Grossman', but he only lasted three or four episodes of series eight. Benny Lee then showed up as 'Mr. Klein' for the rest of that season. Finally, they made the very wise choice to retire the elder manager of the Gentleman's Wear, and decided to put Mr Humphries in charge, with 'Mr Spooner' as his only underling.
- Quotes
Mrs. Betty Slocombe: I hope you don't mind me saying so, but you look far too young to be Mr Humphries' mother.
Mrs . Annie Humphries: Oh, I'm nearly sixty!
Mrs. Betty Slocombe: Well, I'm nearly forty!
Mrs . Annie Humphries: [unconvinced] I don't believe it.

Life's a drag when you're so close to being an heir.
Mr Humphries is showing old snaps to the team, when in walks Old Mr Grace, who spies the snaps. Mr Grace recognises 'Annie' from the photos, a stage performer he had left pregnant many years ago. Old Mr Grace jumps to the opinion that Mr Humphries is his son and heir to Grace Brothers. Mrs Humphries is called in to clear up the matter, with big implications for poor Mr Humphries.
It's quite a fun episode, loaded with some of the silly humour that runs through a few of the later episodes. I loved how the behaviour of his colleagues changed when they thought he was heir to the business, Mr Rumbold especially. Mr Humphries is always a delight when he drags up, he's so much fun as Mrs Humphries.
It's a nice and fun episode, leaves you feeling really sorry for the lovable Mr Humphries. 7/10
