Cattle rustlers were a priority over a murderer
bkoganbing27 January 2017
When Michael Hall won't give up the new Spencer Rifle he just bought to Chris Alcaide, Alcaide just shoots him down like a dog and rides out of town.

Days later Hall's older brother Michael Rennie comes to town and finds sheriff Tom Brown rounding up a posse to pursue cattle rustlers. When he won't track down Alcaide, Rennie gets Brown to deputize him.

This was probably a sad but uncomfortable truth for frontier towns and law and order back in the day. But those ranches held the economy of the area in their hands so cattle rustlers were probably a bigger priority according to public opinion.

The story is then Rennie's apprehension of Alcaide and him bringing him back to face justice. It was a difficult thing to do especially for one not experienced in these things.

Veteran western character actor Earle Hodgins is in this as a citizen who volunteers to help Rennie out. His face and voice are familiar to any who make a study of the movie western playing all kinds of cagey characters.

This one is worth watching.
