A departure
bkoganbing3 January 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This Zane Grey Theater production represents a departure for the show in the sense that it is a true story. Bob Cummings Lt. Gatewood is a true figure and of course so are Michael Pate as Geronimo, Robert Warwick as General Nelson Miles and Michael Hinn as legendary Indian scout Tom Horn.

Geronimo was the last of the fabled Indian chief foes of the white man to surrender, but it was hardly a fair fight at that point. It wasn't even a fight as Geronimo was holed up with the last of his warriors in a mountain redoubt.

Both Gatewood and Geronimo have some personal issues as a result of the Apache wars. Both prove to be men greater than their grievances in this teleplay.

A nice show, but more like a Death Valley Days episode.
