This is another of my favorite series finales (or should I say season finale episodes due to the upcoming sequel series coming) of all time and in general. This episode was truly something special as it was rare for an animated show in fact even TV shows in general to have a conclusion. I'll admit I was glad for this episode because it shows that the people behind the show truly do care about where it was going but also that our patience finally pays off. I was also sad because I realized that another of my favorite TV shows was coming to an end which makes you wonder where you go from here.

What made the episode sadder is the fact that this premiered near the time when the 90's decade was coming to an end, let alone my own childhood as I was starting to become a teen; it just really hammered in the fact on the finality of it all, how fast time can truly pass, and that nothing is forever, except in what we carry in our hearts.

This isn't a finale with a giant final battle which you would most of the time except from this or any other show, instead it's a drama which I'm fine with because sometimes it's the most intimate moments with people that can make the biggest impact.

Professor X afflicted with a rare disease and on the brink of death was really heart wrenching and surreal as it was rare for animated or just main characters in general to be in that state. However, seeing that was a valuable reminder to me on the mortality of him and the X-Men, despite their extraordinary abilities and no matter how many battles they may have triumphed over; they are all still mortal which means death is never far behind. But this also is part of why their all the more relatable as they are all human.

There are a lot of touching moments, like one where a few of the X-Men deliver the news to Magneto who is on the brink of starting a Civil War. This put Erik in a dilemma where he could make history today or he could spend the final time with his lifelong friend. It's not an easy decision to make but you must ask yourself the question "if you knew a loved one was coming to an end, wouldn't you want to be with them?" And of course, we see Erik does make his decision which shows that despite serving a different ideology, he still has a sense of compassion and honor, and he honors and cherishes his friendship with Charles.

What Charles says to each of the characters is touching, it just shows how far all of them have truly come but most importantly how one person can truly matter because of how many lives he/she has touched and been a part of.

The ending is bittersweet as we see an angel arrive for Charles and that of course is La Landra who has tech that can keep Charles in some sort of suspended animation to halt the progression of his disease. However, he must leave with her as a cure for it has yet to be found which could be a very long time. The X-Men and even Magneto know Charles is gone and might never come back but at least they know he's in a better place now, and that his dream will never die as it lives on in all of them and even us whom still believe in a better tomorrow.

And now there is nothing more to say except farewell "X-Men", you've been a big part of my childhood and most importantly my life. Never forget you, the lessons you taught, and like them I'll continue to resist and fight intolerance and defend all the dreamers that continue to dream till they come true. X-Men are forever for as long as there are people like myself and others whom continue to exist and keep existing and walking tall.
