Sex & Nudity

Violence & Gore

  • Tooms kills several people, though always offscreen. We see some blood, and Tooms' "nest" has some rather disgusting looking bile, gore, etc. in it. The entire episode has a violent undertone, like when the old policemen recounts the Powhatan mill murders.

Profanity

  • Mild profanity such as "hell" and "damn" are used very occasionally.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Very light alcohol, and maybe a cigarette or two.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Pretty intense and frightening. Hardened horror viewers will probably not be scared at all, but most younger kids and squeamish adults will definitely be frightened. (Deleted. Personal opinions about suitable viewing ages are not appropriate for the Parents Guide.)
  • Tooms' appearance is always scary, and there are many stalker and jump scenes that will scare most people.
  • This is probably one of the scariest, possibly THE scariest of the X-Files episodes.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • When Tooms attacks Scully, he pulls up her shirt to rip her liver out and we see her bare stomach for about 3 seconds.
