The set in which Doggett finds himself lost was the same that used to be Mulder's apartment.
Four days after this episode was broadcast, Chris Carter made the announcement that The X-Files (1993) would be ending at the end of this ninth season.
It is revealed that John Doggett was with the 24th Marine Amphibious Unit (now known as the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit) during the 1983 Lebanon barracks bombing. This was a real-life terrorist attack that occurred in Beirut, Lebanon in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 23, 1983. Early that morning, two trucks loaded with the equivalent of 21,000 pounds of TNT, being driven by members of the Hezbollah terrorist group, were driven into buildings housing American and French service members that were in the country as part of a UN peacekeeping force responding to the Lebanese Civil War. They were there to prevent further ethnic cleansing from being carried out by protecting refugees fleeing the country. The first suicide bomber struck the building housing the 1st Battalion, 8th Marines Landing Team (which the 24th MAU was part of) killing 220 Marines, 18 U.S. Navy sailors (all were with the 24th MAU) and 3 U.S. Army soldiers, a further 128 American soldiers were injured in the blast. This is the deadliest single-day death toll for the United States Marine Corps since the Battle of Iwo Jima in World War II. Moments later a second suicide bomber struck the building housing troops from France, killing 55 members of the 1st Parachute Chasseur Regiment. Three members of the 9th Parachute Chasseur Regiment were also killed and another 15 seriously injured. Six Lebanese civilians were also killed in the blast: a janitor working in the building housing the French troops, his wife and four children were killed. The total casualties were 301 dead, 150 seriously injured; the dead included: 241 U.S. military personnel, 58 French military personnel, 6 civilians, and the two suicide bombers.
In this episode we learn for the first time that Monica Reyes grew up in Mexico and is a natural Spanish speaker.
