simple story and not that much of wonder woman
trashgang22 January 2013
An Argentine scientist discovers how to make rubber as strong as steel. Of course the Allies want the formula (refering to the title) but also the Nazis want the formula.

Steve and Diana are off to Buenos Aires to go to professor Moreno to get the formula. From there on it's a lot of blah blah and not so many action. You really have to wait until almost half the episode before Steve and wonder woman are captured.

On part of the acting no problem and all okay wasn't it for the fact that there isn't that much of wonder woman in it. When it does they added new sounds to her fighting for example when throwing away soldiers you here sounds.

In the meanwhile the professors daughter Lydia is being captured by the Nazis to be sure that Moreno gives formula 407. But not without wonder woman.

What did notice me was the fact that their is said that Argentina do love Nazis, a reference towards the fact that Nazis ran to Argentina once the Third Reich collapsed. Not the first time that such thing was said.

Towards the end we go again to the beach as in so many episodes and we do see old footage from other episodes (the U-boat). And the airport of Buenos Aires was just a house, really?

Not camp or cheesy (well maybe the grenades at the end) but a simple storyline with not that much of wonderstuff going on.

As the IADC turns?
hollywoodshack19 April 2024
Reviews of this episode seem to be mixed since a lot of time is spent where Steve Trevor romances the scientist's daughter while Diana Prince rebuffs the advances of a handsome latin at a dinner party in Argentina where the two are trying to get a secret formula for indestructible rubber. Diana is conflicted somehow because she cannot love a mortal man even though she came from a human island here on earth. The soap sudsy nature of a romantic subplot seems to be at odds with the weekly universal appeal of the characters with all age groups. Younger children might get bored easy, even though the end rebounds with enough excitement to finish watching it..

A SIMPLE BUT EFFECTIVE STORY
asalerno109 May 2022
The story is simple and repeated, but it is so well managed that it does not disappoint. Here we noticed that the writers were running out of ideas to create stories set in Washington and decide in these last three episodes that the action is moved to other places. This time Steve and Diana travel to Buenos Aires to look for a formula that an Argentine scientist has generously donated to the United States. But a group of Nazi agents also goes to the place with the same intentions. The script is very entertaining, we see Diana in trouble trying to escape from the loving intentions of an admirer. For the first time we see Steve seduce and be seduced by the young daughter of the scientist. And of course we have a grand finale with Wonder Woman saving the day.

Formula 407
coltras358 April 2022
Rather average episode finds Wonder Woman rescuing Steve Rogers from his kidnappees and does her usual tricks. And it's all about formula about making rubber indestructible.

A step backwards
Joxerlives8 January 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Formula 407 Very much a backwards step after the previous episodes, another Nazi agent plot with a secret formula at risk. WW chloroformed again, some nice stock footage of South America but little else to really recommend it. Where did this recipe for indestructible rubber go, it still sounds pretty useful? The Atlantic really must be crawling with U-boats, they seem to show up everywhere. One thing that was pointed out to me is that in the late 1970s WW2 was still living memory, you could have served in it and still be in your late 40s which may explain why they chose to set the show then, most of the movers and shakers in Hollywood would have been of that generation (one of the reasons we're getting Transformers and GI Joe films now is that the bigwigs in Hollywood are those who played with the toys as kids). 2/10

things to do with WONDER WOMAN when you're bored
RavenGlamDVDCollector24 April 2019
You can marvel at the costume. Yes, it's really silly, that adult diaper, but, yeah, Lynda Carter does look good in it. Then again Lynda Carter would look good in a gunny sack. But then again, Lynda Carter as Diana Prince (like that Antonio guy said - severe hairstyle + awful glasses YEAH!!!) doesn't look good... and this brings me to the other reviewer here, who said there is too little of Wonder Woman in here. Yeah, it kicks off that way, she takes a l-o-n-g time to appear, but she's perhaps not featured less than in other episodes. But I'm glad not to be alone, lost in a sea of true blue WONDER WOMAN Lynda Carter aficionados all with sentimentality in their eyes. I've only recently seen anything of WONDER WOMAN and while I do realize you gotta make allowances for Seventies stuff... well, to cut a long story short, CHARLIE'S ANGELS, streets up ahead, but from the same era... mistakes, yeah, bits that didn't age well... but certainly no gorilla suits, I rest my case. Yeah, WONDER WOMAN, I'd never forgive that one.

But the problem doesn't lie with anything else than the lack of an interesting supporting cast. Lyle Waggoner, boring. Hell, even his Playgirl photo is boring (and that's the only interesting thing about him). That one that plays Etta Candy... and worst of all, Lynda Carter as Diana "Popeye's girl Olive Oil".... please. Snores galore.

For much of this episode: Would rather watch two snails race. And that's a damning indictment.
