- Dr. Tony Hill has his hands full. His principal interest is in solving a string of murders where he can find no apparent connection. A child molester, a divorced woman, and an elderly pensioner are all violently killed, and while there are a few similarities, the cases suggest that different personalities are at work. He begins to decipher the motives when he realizes that there are two killers working together, alternating their kills. Tony also finds that a woman he's met on an airplane is stalking him and developing a whole fantasy life around him. DCI Carol Jordan learns that she isn't pregnant but isn't sure if that's a good or a bad thing.—garykmcd
- Dr. Hill ignores promoting his career again, and joins DCI Jordan and her team in an investigation of a series of seemingly unrelated murders. "Different MOs", the police would say, as if the crimes were perpetrated by different persons. Soon the murders are linked together when Dr. Hill explains the multiple-personality phenomenon of these crimes.
On sidelines, we have to ask again: is there anything more than friendship in personal relationships between Tony Hill and Carol Jordan? Carol flirts with a fellow cop (sort of...). Tony makes a female friend (kind of...).
