After West unlocks a door he is shown putting the lockpick back into his lapel's hidden pocket. In the next shot he walks through the door and then once again puts the pick into the secret pocket.
The burn rate of the fuses together with their length and distance from the rockets is such that it would be impossible for Torres and West to have such a lengthy conversation without the rockets igniting. As a result, the same footage of the burning fuses is looped over and over again between shots - the fuses never ending up any closer to the rockets during their conversation. Later when West is psyching out the henchman left to guard him, new footage of the fuses is inserted. Now the fuses can be seen clearly reaching the rockets, but they do not ignite because that footage is looped a few times until the henchman flees the room and West makes his move.
In the opener West shoots a portion of the forehead skin from Torres' skull revealing steel beneath it. Afterwards over the course of days, weeks or even months later when Nina arrives in town and goes out to his house, the wound to Torres' forehead is no longer visible. While Torres is quite the genius inventor, one thing that is apparently beyond his years of laboring is the mastery of plastic surgery - evidenced by the steel plates and scars along the side of his face. Yet in weeks or possibly months, he has chosen to repair that one spot while with years to work on it, the rest of his face is a mess.
While Grant was a very well traveled man - he was the first US president to have seen the west coast - most of his wanderings occurred before and after his term in office. While president, he was seldom away from Washington, and never went further west than Colorado. While a young army officer, he was posted to Fort Vancouver in the Oregon Territory and after leaving office, embarked on a famous round-the-world tour, visiting many heads of state along the way.
During Torres and Gilbert's confrontation in the dockside shop, a stage light can be seen glowing through the window in the door.
