Robert Cummings's science-fiction sitcom 'My Living Doll (1964)' was about to premiere the following week, on September 27th. Despite good reviews, early ratings were poor, and Cummings left the series while it was still in production. The show was cancelled after 21 episodes.
At the time of this appearance, USAF officer and flying ace Chuck Yeager was the Commandant of the Aerospace Research Pilot School, which produced astronauts for NASA and the USAF.
