Hazel Bellamy plots with Hudson to get Richard Bellamy out of trouble - but it backfires.

Warning: Spoilers
September, 1913 Richard Bellamy purchases some Shares on advice given to him by an old friend he hasn't seen in years. The Shares are guaranteed to make him a lot of money - the only condition being, that he is to tell no-one who it is that has advised him to buy them. Richard pledges his 'Word Of Honour' not to reveal his friend's identity. This causes great problems for himself, and a possible scandal could ensue when the Shares present him with a fortune.

Everybody is trying to find out who the person was who gave Richard the information - in doing so, they could alleviate his difficulties. Despite his problems which put him in the firing line; Richard Bellamy refuses to give the identity. As a result; Hazel, now his daughter-in-law, goes behind his back with Hudson, and discovers the man's name and gives it to Sir Geoffrey Dillon, who in turn gives it to the necessary authorities. This gets Richard off the hook, whilst still having maintained his 'Word Of Honour', but it does nothing for his relationship with his new daughter-in-law. Richard is so angry, he reminds poor Hazel of her different background by expressing that 'her ways have not yet become theirs' and must become so, and orders she leave his study. A rather painful scene for the Viewer, retrospectively, in view of her bad fortune in life and sad fate...
