Much has been said about similarities of Two in Clover with The Good Life.
From the introductory voiceover in the first episode, to me it is The Odd Couple.
Sid (Sidney James) is more streetwise and Vic (Victor Spinetti) is more fussy. They are bored office workers who pack it all in to leave the rat race.
Vic persuades Sid to become a partner in a farm.
The first episode very much takes in the delipidated farm they have bought with two lavatories, which turn out to be side by side on the outside.
However Sid and Vic think they can be in the money with the generous subsidies on offer. Not realising that they get not for the amounts of cows they have but the milk they produce.
Sidney James can make below par material funny and here he has a good script to work it. He works well with Victor Spinetti, someone who used to be one of my mum's favourites. She always remarked that he never used to age.
