Allied aircrews rescued by the French Underground and returned to England, especially prior to the D-Day invasion such as Captain Pollard and Major Coefield, would never be returned to combat in the European Theater; they would be reassigned to another theater or back the the Continental US because they knew too much about the Underground operations and would risk compromising that information if subsequently captured by the Germans.
