- TriviaDue to The Time Tunnel being abruptly canceled, the series seems to end with a cliffhanger. There was no "series finale" which would have shown the end of Doug & Tony's adventures and their return home. Since the episode ends with footage from reruns of past episodes (a common practice for Irwin Allen productions such as Lost in Space (1965) during summer break), many viewers and critics have interpreted the conclusion to be that Doug & Tony were stuck in an eternal loop of repeating their 30 filmed experiences for all time, a convenient metaphor for syndication. Viewers with upbeat preferences have pointed out that Doug and Tony's signals are reported to be very strong in this episode, and prefer to assume that after their adventure in the Town of Terror, the two men were retrieved safely to Project Tic Toc headquarters.
- GoofsWhen they encounter the rackmounted equipment, they mention how sophisticated it is. Tony then randomly throws a switch, complete with sound effect. It's unlikely that Tony, being an experienced scientist, would just throw a switch as though it were nothing.

Deceptive and Flawed Last Episode
Doug and Tony are transported to a mysterious laboratory in Cliffport, Maine, on 10 September 1978, and sooner they discover that the local population has been frozen by aliens that intend to steal the oxygen of the atmosphere. Meanwhile, the connection of the time tunnel complex with Doug and Tony is locked and the oxygen in the complex is also drained jeopardizing the personnel.
"Town of Terror" is a deceptive and flawed last episode of The Time Tunnel that uses the idea of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" with aliens possessing the bodies of humans. The screenplay is flawed and for example, the first alien vanquished by Doug and Tony explodes and vanishes in a different way from the others. The conclusion (or lack of conclusion) with the return to the first episode is awful and the producers show no respect with the viewers and fans of this cult show. My vote is seven.
