Jack is ecstatic when his former Navy buddy Bill Martin shows up in town looking for a job. Jack hires him as an assistant cook at the Bistro, but he is unaware of Bill's unscrupulous motives: Bill wants to own his own restaurant at any cost. First he cons Jack's boss Mr Angelino by saying he offered to help Jack at the restaurant and that he handled the business end of cooking on the ship, then he cons Jack into believing that some friends of Mr. Angelino are coming for a party, when they're actually coming from a funeral. After this ends in disaster, with Mr. Angelino chewing Jack out, and Bill appears to save the day again, Jack realizes Bill's true agenda, that he is a greedy con man and deliberately set him up so that he could worm his way into an ownership at the Bistro. Mr. Angelino will only renew his lease if he makes Bill his partner. When Janet and Terri find out, they opt to help Jack get back at Bill for his deceit.
