- Red (Kurtwood Smith) refuses to feed Eric (Topher Grace) until he gets a plan for his life which includes a Job, Donna, moving out, and his future. Eric says that calling off the wedding was traumatic, and it has only been a week since then. He needs more time. Kitty is making fried chicken for dinner, and if Eric doesn't have a plan by then, he gets no dinner either. Hyde (Danny Masterson) has no clue about any of those things either, but Red is happy to feed him.
Meanwhile Donna and Eric decide not to discuss their relationship for a while. Donna and Eric agree that they were about to make a huge mistake and they were not ready to stay together in a trailer. Donna has dyed her hair blonde, and Eric is super attracted to her. Donna decides to start working full time as a DJ at the radio station.
The gang boys are big fans of Donna's new blonde look. Kelso wants to know if Donna is single and if she is, he wants to have a shot at having sex with her.
Jackie (Mila Kunis) feels that Donna's (Laura Prepon) new blond look will re-energize her spiritually and Donna vows to re-dedicate herself to feminism. Meanwhile Fez (Wilmer Valderrama) takes the first tentative steps towards establishing contact with a potential girlfriend.
Kitty (Debra Jo Rupp) is scandalized that Bob (Don Stark) is dating Pam (Brooke Shields) and Midge (Tanya Roberts) simultaneously, forcing the anti-social Red to talk with him about it. Kitty says that Red has to get Bob to choose one woman. Red believes that Pam is the obvious choice, since she is so tan.
Kitty wants Bob to pick Midge to bring happiness to Donna's life. Red ends up spending the afternoon with Bob on the roof. Bob was hiding from Pam and Midge. Bob says that he loves Pam, but Midge is Donna's mother, and he cannot turn his back on her. Bob had a beer case on the roof as well. Pam goes back home to give Bob and Midge a chance.
Determined to have eat his mother's fried chicken for dinner Eric comes up with the plan: to do nothing and go nowhere for a year, deciding to hock Donna's engagement ring in order to finance his intentions. Eric says that rich kids do it all the time, and so he will do the same thing, but in a way that poor people do it.
But Donna says that she threw off the ring from the water tower, as she was mad at Eric. The gang goes to the water tower to help Eric look for the ring. Kelso suggests recreating the scene to locate the ring. Kelso throws his keys into the woods, but that doesn't help at all, and now Kelso's keys are missing too. Jackie says that if Eric had bought Donna a decent sized diamond, they would have found it by then. Eric falls from the tower after he slips, and Jackie refuses to save him. He lands on the ring and finds it. Eventually, Donna also agrees with the gang that the ring could have been bigger.
