Kitty and Eric's Night Out (#2.18)

Warning: Spoilers
Kitty wants to spend more time with Eric and he goes out with her to watch Annie Hall. Fez gets a girlfriend and this drives Jackie crazy because she almost feels like she likes Fez. Hyde and Leo play Monopoly.

A pretty great episode. Every story in it is both sweet and funny. I liked Eric and his mom going out. The time before it when he is being convinced at the table as well as Kelso saying that he might get lucky. What a fun Kelso moment! The part when Kitty and Eric watch the movie and we follow what they are thinking is also pretty great.

Fez bragging about his girlfriend was also fun and adorable. Just as Jackie for some reason feeling this weird liking for him.

Warning: Spoilers
As I rewatch That 70s Show now that I have a teenager who went off the college of course it's funny it this show has a lot of heart and goes to show that all families pretty much share a common experience. This episode is a.perfect example.

As our kids get older it is natural for them to rather spend time with their friends and not their parents. Red accepts this like most dads do while Kitty has a hard time realizing she's gotta let go. When prided to go shopping with his mom she's internally hurt when he doesn't want to go. And as Red discovers how important this is to Kitty he insists Eric spends time with her. Hyde even eggs it on but deep down Hyde wishes he has a mom who wanted to take him shopping.

Their interaction at dinner and the movie is real and they both recognize they actually had a good time.

Debra Jo Rupp does such a great job at the end with that sigh, welling up with tears and 3 little words 'he was wonderful'. As a mom who's time with her now adult son has quickly slipped away from her I completely resonated.

This is one of the reasons this show is so good.
