Teen Titans is a show that blends action, drama and out-there humor like no cartoon ever had before and really has since. And it is in these episodes that the specific brand of fun, absurd zaniness that is the Teen Titans shines forth in unabashed confidence. This episode in particular is an excellent example for why the Teen Titans was a groundbreaking show and IS still today far superior in each and every extent to that abomination of cartoons: Teen Titans Go! The teen titans of today revel in stupid, childish nonsense with no break from the obnoxious voices, ridiculous, dumb stories and complete disregard for good storytelling. Whereas this episode 'Date with Destiny' is both funny, silly, ridiculous and at the same time heartfelt, compelling, engaging and brimming with character. Every step of the way, this episode pulls you further into the fresh, cartoon world of supervillain fathers and their spoiled daughters, prom dates that could decide a cities fate and of course guys with spiders for heads. And with every step you enjoy it more. With every episode you find yourself loving the characters more and with every step you hope for episodes like 'Date with Destiny'. Luckily for you, Teen Titans delivers. Unluckily for us, Teen Titans Go! is still on the air. With no sign of stopping or ever really starting to be an actual Tv show. (And not a dumb, discombobulated mess of idiotic stupidity.) You can not count on it ever pushing out episode after episode of excellent quality like Teen Titans did. But thankfully, we have these episodes and thankfully 'Date with Destiny' will forever be there to comfort us when the Teen Titans Go Movie makes it (inexplicably) to theaters.
