Nancy Reagan (yes, the President's wife) is convincing as the devoted wife of a man who is hiding from an act of cowardice that he committed during the Civil War.
Clu Gulager, as Billy the Kid, turns in a fine performance, encouraging the vengeful Pat Garrett to forget the past and move on.
Great suspense, as Pat Garrett removes his badge, hands it to Billy, and rides off to fulfill an oath that he swore 18 years ago.
"Shadow of the Past" was filmed less than 100 years after The Civil War. Emotions among Americans regarding the Civil War were still very strong at that time, especially in The South. TV shows (and movies) like "Shadow of the Past" were a cultural attempt to heal the divide.
I rate "Shadow of the Past" 10 stars.
