Is this a hospital or a madhouse??

"The Hospital" is an episode of "Studio One" that is in many ways like a soap opera, with all the little stories going on within the building. Some are pretty interesting, the main one seems overdone...and overacted.

The setting is a hospital and it's a very hot day...so folks are on edge. There also are some troubles brewing....the hospital administrator (Victor Jory) has really bungled the finances of the place and is contemplating suicide, a drunk cook is running amok (George Mathews) and turns off the power, the emergency backup oddly doesn't go on and patients might die. Of all these, the drunk cook part seemed VERY unlikely and difficult to believe...especially when he turns off the power and threatens anyone who tries to turn it back on...while patients in surgery languish.

The story is interesting...just not always believable. There also were a few bungled lines (they couldn't re-shoot them as "Studio One" was presented live). Overall, decent but relatively weak compared to other "Studio One" installments.
