Episode 42
kevinolzak29 April 2010
Episode 42 begins with the birth of Corinne's baby boy,the doctor proclaiming him "the most gorgeous baby" she's ever seen, with Jessica reminiscing about her difficult labors, while admitting how easy it was for her sister Mary("you were just walking around and they dropped out!" -both Cathryn Damon and Jennifer Salt cannot stifle their laughter).Burt confronts Mary about why she left him, and, after she finishes throwing all the breakables(which Benson refuses to clean up),he vows to prove his innocence(Jessica asks Benson "you want me to get that?" to which he answers "if you don't mind!") Alice has made herself at home in Jodie's apartment, cooking, cleaning, and painting("that's what happens when you have a Jewish mother, eventually you become one!") Asking her to leave proves a regrettable mistake, because Jodie immediately misses her and calls out after her(her response: "I'm returning your call!") Jessica spends an evening with a nervous Detective Donohue, both behaving like two giddy teenagers.Meanwhile,a still amnesiac Chester works as a short-order cook at a Texas roadhouse, casually flirting with Midge-Ann(Jane Daly),the attractive waitress who calls him "Cookie." Buck(Burton Gilliam),her jealous boyfriend, unwittingly restores Chester's memory, sending him off to Connecticut to find his "loving wife named Jessica, and a fine young son named Benson!"

Can Burt and Mary survive?
Sleepin_Dragon30 December 2023
Burt decides that it's time to confront Mary, and give his side of the story, but first he has to get last Jessica. Jodie invites his new found friend round to his home, and Detective Donahue hosts Jessica for dinner.

Everything that I've been wishing for, especially in the previous episode is coming true, and finally he's on his way home, the family unit really has been missing Chester, and I miss his bantering with Benson.

What I'd call one of the more serious episodes, sure there are some funny moments, such as Chester in The Cafe, Burt having to get past a semi determined Jessica, and Jodie getting used to his new roomie, but this is more about the serious stuff, Jessica's flock coming home to her, and of course the uncertainty between Burt and Mary.

8/10.
