First of all, just let me say that in 2023 it's an absolute crime that there is no High Definition version of this show - STILL!
Both the picture on a large flatscreen TV and the sound, though ostensibly DTS 5.1, are both mediocre at best and really don't do justice to all the hard work put into the show.
Beyond that, I think you need to buy into the sheer lunacy that's on display. The central character is absolutely dominant in terms of storylines and screen time, and if you find him unappealing then it won't really work for you.
But I do and I love his exaggerated machismo, sexism and idiocy. And Ann-Marie is simply magnificent here - she's got the character absolutely spot-on and it's a sheer joy to see her in action, and Hammer's hilarious admiration for her.
Alan Spencer - I doubt if you will ever read this, but please upgrade it to HD, it is the very least it deserves.
