Underrated gem

Warning: Spoilers
"The Last Temptation Of Homer" is one of the most underrated "Simpsons" episodes I've seen so far. Mr. Burns is forced to hire Mindy, a female engineer (beautifully voiced by guest star Michelle Pfeiffer), in his power plant, and Homer immediately gets a crush on her. But it's not just a physical attraction: they seem to have almost identical personalities as well. Mindy also loves food (which does pose the question of how she stays in such great shape! Maybe she exercises a lot), beer, TV, sleeping, and free things. And although she's not openly flirting with Homer or trying to seduce him, she also seems attracted to him. When their company sends them together as representatives on a convention, Homer's temptation becomes harder and harder to resist. Like most of the best "Simpsons" episodes, this one is guided by a strong character story, which balances sweetness with hilarity, sometimes in the same scene (the stimulator....er, I mean the elevator encounter). And Michelle Pfeiffer does such a nice job with Mindy, you'll probably fall in love with her as well. There is also one GREAT throwaway gag about what happens to the scientist who finally finds a way to master solar energy. The secondary plot, with Bart having to wear glasses for two weeks and being labeled a nerd at his school, is mostly filler, but does its job . *** out of 4.

Another hilarious classic

Bart while looking at his reflection in milhouse's glasses: I'm a nerd Milhouse looking at bart's glasses reflection: (gasps) so am I!

Easily one of the absolute funniest scenes in the whole series I've never laughed so hard at that. I never got to watch this as a kid, I grew up in the 2000s and they never aired it on tv and I didnt get season 5 on dvd ever but I had season 6 and on the clip episode they basically showed the main plot in a nutshell. I rewatched it years later on fx and now I rewatch it on disney+ and the main plot is funny but I think the bart looking a geek b plot was hilarious I'd give it a watch it really tests Homer's faithfulness to Marge and resist the temptation of a coworker. The jokes are just non stop in this episode it's too funny not to watch.

One of the strongest Simpson episode
errepinna29 March 2023
Everything about this episode is nice.

The jokes are all on point, and seeing early Homer struggling with other woman has always been my favorite kind of episode.

It keeps it real and relatable, one of if not my favorite episode of the whole franchise. The story wraps up very well in a wholesome way, it's the kind of episode that is just timeless and always relevant.

The new character and guest star fits very well, it doesn't overstay its welcome.

The episode was an instant classic and one if the very high point of the simpsons, still discussed today and loved by fans. It's a good entry point for whoever wants to enjoy a classic episode.

The Mindy Simmons Show
safenoe16 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Michelle Pfeiffer is the guest voice of Mindy Simmons, a nuclear plant co-worker who Homer has special feelings and emotions for, and really, you wonder, could Homer really succumb and engage in the act of the beast with two backs with Mindy you may ask. I think perhaps The Last Temptation of Homer kind of inspired the Showtime series, The Affair.

Anyway, Homer ends up being loyal to Marge but you wonder if it could have gone the other way. For me, in my humble opinion, the first 10 seasons are the golden era of The Simpsons, with some episodes after that worthy of watching at least once init.

Homer Simpson and his wife... wait- that isn't Marge?!?

Warning: Spoilers
In this episode of the Simpsons Homer becomes attracted to a new coworker named Mindy. All things considered, she is quite the woman version of Homer himself. What's funny is the episode has some of my highlights when it comes to not only the season but the show itself. Notable moments include the sweaty palm scene where Homer is trying to read off his hand but he can't because he's "sweating like Roger Ebert," another is the "hehe, ruff, ruff, hubba hubba" part that happens twice which is hilarious. And the "think unsexy thoughts" part before Homer slides down the power plant as if it were an elevator. Homer and Mindy go to the Big Apple. The fortune cookie scene is also good. Great episode, good laughs and standout moments.. I also particularly love this one because of its outcome/end scene with Marge and Homer, wherein Homer makes a choice on what to do, who to choose. It's just another memorable and particularly funny classic episode that I wanted to quickly review, having seen it many times and it has been a favourite of mine for about 15 years.

Love, Homer
Hitchcoc9 May 2022
Two plots. One involves a beautiful woman being hired at the power plant. She and Homer are so much alike that sexual tension comes on strong. Homer is immediately guilty. Bart goes to the doctor and ends up being transformed into a nerd. A few good jokes but not up to the usual standards.

Navigating the Shadows of Possible Early Decline
santifersan23 November 2023
While this episode meets the quality standards of the show's golden era, the story leans more towards humor than realism. It becomes challenging to believe that a woman like Mindy would be attracted to someone like Homer.

To emphasize this point, the episode starts with Homer already thinking that Mindy is interested in him, and all he does is avoid encountering her. In the end, we're left unsure if Mindy felt anything special for Homer throughout the episode. The focus seems to be more on comedic aspects than on the narrative.

That's why when I say the first three or four seasons were truly the best, I mean it. In my view, ever since I devised my experimental viewing method, it becomes increasingly clear to me that the series started its decline around season four or five.
